CUBE - Católica Lisbon Research Unit in Business and Economics at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, is awarding 01 Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship (BIPD) in the scientific field of Management with a particular focus on Family Business, for the development of research in the frame of the Family Business Initiative.

The selected candidate will conduct academic research in the field of Management, with a focus on Family Business. The main duties of the researcher include developing a pipeline of papers to be submitted to internationally refereed journals in the field of management, as well as engaging with family business and international organizations in the family business field to generate research opportunities. It is also important to engage with CATÓLICA-LISBON students, undergraduate and graduate, to generate further research and societal engagement activities that promote a stronger understanding and progress of the sector of family business in Portugal and Europe.

This will include:

  • Develop and carry out theoretically informed and empirically grounded research focusing on family business topics;
  • Carry out and develop collaborative research with other colleagues and research groups at CATÓLICA-LISBON or at other institutions;
  • Prepare academic papers and presentations; 
  • Submit papers and manage the review process;
  • Promote de development of family business initiatives at CATÓLICA-LISBON

Skills/Qualifications
  • At the time of application, candidates must have completed a PhD degree, obtained no more that three years before the start date of the fellowship, in the scientific field of Management, Economics or related scientific fields;
  • The doctoral work should not have been accomplished in the institution awarding the present fellowship;

Only candidates who do not exceed, with the conclusion of the fellowship contract referred to in this notice, including the planned renewals, a cumulative period of three years in this type of fellowship, consecutive or interpolated, are eligible.

  • Expert knowledge and experience in the topic of Family Business;
  • Good data collection and analysis skills;
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently; 
  • Ability to engage with students and family business owners
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English.

Benefits

The fellowship’s maintenance allowance is 1 741,00 € per month, according to the table of values of the grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the Country. Further information at https://former.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en . The fellowship will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

The fellowship holder will be covered by a personal accident insurance.


Selection process

The candidates’ final classification shall be presented on a scale of 0 to 20. The final classification evaluates the candidate’s merit and it is calculated by weighing in each factor as follows:

  • Scientific and academic profile: 50 %
  • Expertise in the work field, including previous research experience: 30%
  • Data collection and analysis skills: 20%
  • Final Classification = (0,50 x A) + (0,30 x B) + (0,20 x C)

    A minimum of 15 points is needed for a candidate to be considered eligible for the position .

    If necessary, candidates may be called for an interview, in which case the interview will not be scored or weighted in the final classification and will only serve to clarify the information provided.
