Offer Description

One Research Fellowship (BI) is open at Universidade Fernando Pessoa for the Project SAFENET - Seismic risk Assessment For transportation NETworks,2022.07628.PTDC, funded byPortuguese funds (PIDDAC), throughFundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia I.P.

Workplan and objectives

Task 1: Design and construction of dataset.

Task 2: Development of a platform based on Machine Learning for characterization of works of art in roads and highways;

Task 3: Analysis, selection and calibration of Machine Learning algorithms.

Duration of the fellowship contract: The fellowship will last 12 months (with possibility of an extension), scheduled to start in April 2024.

Application deadline and form of submission of applications: The call is open from 6th March 2023 to 19th March 2024.

Documentation to be provided at the time of contracting: In addition to those mentioned in the previous point, it is necessary to present proof of enrollment in a master's degree.

Applicable Legislation: Law 40/2004, of 18th August, in the current wording (Statute of the Scientific Research Scholarship, and Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, regulation 950/2019. Subsidiarily and in everything that is not in opposition to the legislation mentioned above, the Code of Administrative Procedure (CPA), approved by Decree-Law No. 4/2015, of 7 January, also applies.

Workplace: The work will be developed at Universidade Fernando Pessoa, Porto, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Doutor Feliz Gouveia and Prof. Doutor Rui Moreira.

Benefits

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €990,98 according to the table of grant values within the scope of a R & D project by FCT, I.P. in the country. It may include the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security in accordance with article 10 of the Fellowship Holder Statute. Payment of the fellowship is monthly and via bank transfer or equivalent method.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates who comply with the provisions of paragraph 1 of article 9 of the Regulation for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, regulation 950/2019.

Selection process

A. Academic curriculum suited for the proposed workplan, B. Previous work in the scientific area of the grant and C. Interview with the first five (5) candidates using criteria A and B. Each criteria has a maximum of five (5) points. Final classification is as follows = 0,30 x A + 0,20 x B + 0,50 x C. If none of the candidates fills the requirements, the Grant will not be awarded.

• Substitute Member: Professor Maria Guerreiro (PhD)

 

Communication of results: Candidates will be notified in writing, via email, of the acceptance of the application as well as, subsequently, of the decision of the Selection Jury. Candidates selected for interview will be notified in writing via email. During the call period, candidates should check the email they indicate in their application daily to stay informed about the selection process. If the result is unfavorable, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the results are published, to comment, if they wish, in a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure, by e-mail to [email protected] . The final results of the evaluation will be announced, through a list ordered by final classification obtained, posted in a visible and public place in the lobby of the Fernando Pessoa University Headquarters Building, located at Praça Nove de Abril, 349, 4249-004 Porto. Complaint and appeal on the final decision can be made following paragraph 6 of article 12 of the Regulation for Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, regulation 950/2019.

Once the selection process is concluded, the fellowship contract will be written in accordance with the contract draft provided by FCT.
