Offer Description

A call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant (BI) within the scope of the ATE project – Alliance for  the Energy Transition, funded by the European Union NextGeneration through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), under the following conditions:

Work Plan and Objetives: The objective is to develop a highly accurate indoor positioning system based on optical signals. The activities to be carried out are: Familiarization with the area of positioning and navigation in indoor spaces; Opticaltransmitter and receiver control; Construction of a  laboratory prototype; Theevaluation of the results achieved; It iswritten with scientific articles documenting the innovative parts of the work carried out.

 Scholarship Duration: The scholarship will last for 12 months, starting in February 2024. The scholarship contract may be renewed until the end of the project.

Application Formalization: candidates must submit their applications by means of an admission letter mentioning their motivations, accompanied by a detailed Curriculum Vitae, a copy of the Certificate of Qualifications with a breakdown of the grades obtained for the subjects taken and a copy of the identification document. All the documents must be sent in pdf.

Admission requirements:  Bachelor's, Master's or Integrated Master's Degree in Communications Engineering,  Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or  Information   Systems.

Preference for candidates  with experience in carrying out research activities  and with knowledge in mathematical modelling and implementation of optical communications systems.

 Scholarship Duration: The scholarship will last for 12 months, starting in February 2024. The scholarship contract may be renewed until the end of the project.

Amount of the Monthly maintenance subvention: The amount of the scholarship will be €1199.64 according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ).

Applicable legislation: The award of the scholarship is based on the Statute of the Scientific Research Grant Holder, approved by Law No. 40/2004 of 18 August and the Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force, which is the one adopted by the Centre for Computer Graphics.

Selection process

Selection methods: The evaluation will take into account the merit of the candidate, considering the parameters of academic training, curricular profile and experience in scientific research, namely in the scientific fields of specialization in relation to the area of activity of the CCG in which the scholarship holder will carry out his/her activity.

The selection of the candidate will be divided into two phases. In the first phase, an evaluation of the curriculum will be carried out (60% of the total value) to select the candidates who move on to the next phase of the evaluation process. In the second phase, an interview will be held with the candidates (40% of the total amount). After the second phase of the evaluation process, an ordered list of candidates will be drawn up with their final grades.

The jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship in the event that candidates with a suitable profile do not apply for the competition.

Publication/Notification of Results: the final results of the evaluation will be publicized, through an ordered list posted in the secretariat of the Computer Graphics Center, and the approved candidate will be notified by email.

Deadline and Complaint Procedure: in case of an unfavorable result, candidates have a period of 10 working days to complain, in accordance with article 12 of the FCT Research Grants Regulation, I. P., no. 950/2019, of December 16, 2019.
