The Tripadvisor Data Science Team is looking for an exceptional individual to help design and build next-generation systems powering an overhaul to our restaurants marketplace. Restaurants are one of the major driving forces of our traffic, which means that your models and your work can potentially impact many millions of travelers daily.
Projects awaiting you range from building recommender systems and e-commerce ranking models to other data-driven methods that may help improve our travelers' experience. This is a generalist position, so you'll have the opportunity to explore different frameworks and ML methods. Your skills, interests, and ideas will influence not only how we approach projects but also what initiatives we take on.
Tripadvisor is the web's leading travel information site. At Tripadvisor, the Data Science Team creates systems that influence the travel decisions of millions of people per day. It applies cutting-edge machine learning techniques to a wide variety of areas such as recommenders, computer vision, and natural language processing. To ensure continued success, Tripadvisor promotes a culture of personal development, including social activities, journal clubs, memberships in online learning resources, and participation in industry conferences.
What you will do:
- Participating in the design of machine learning models to solve a variety of core business problems related to the restaurants domain
- Developing, orchestrating, and maintaining ETL pipelines in production
- Prototyping, evaluating, deploying, and maintaining new models in production
- Designing AB tests and analyzing their results
- Communicating progress and experimental results to technical and business stakeholders
- Participating in the ideation and planning of future projects
Skills & Experience:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in relevant roles
- Strong background in machine learning and statistics
- Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms
- Ability to write complex SQL Experience with Snowflake is a bonus
- Proficiency in Python or R and numerical/statistical computing packages such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, and others
- Experience with big data technologies, such as Spark
- [Nice to have] Experience tools among Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, and Kubeflow
- [Nice to have] Experience with deep learning, modern NLP and/or computer vision
- [Nice to have] Experience with e-commerce platforms or online businesses
- A team player - sharing knowledge and helping others is a big part of who we are

- Have great communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners
- You get things done on time and on specification
