Overview

The Medical Devices RG is focused on the development of tools and solutions based on microfluidics, biosensors and nanotechnology towards early diagnosis and better understanding of diseases.

We are looking for a qualified Junior Research Fellow to join our team towards the development, testing and validation of platforms for the monitoring, diagnosis and prediction of diseases, such as cancer or metabolic diseases. The selected candidate will be hired under the framework of a recently EIC funded Pathfinder project (3DSecret).

 

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Develop procedures for single cell differentiation into spheroids;
  • Test protocols related to extracellular matrix and microenvironment impact;
  • Integrate protocols for cell growth in Microfluidic devices;
  • Integrate protocols with Optofluidic sensing platforms.

 

Mandatory Qualifications

Education

  • MSc in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, or other scientific related areas.

 

Experience

  • Over 1 year of experience in the following:
    • microfluidics;
    • cell culture;
    • single cells and 3D models;
    • advanced fluorescence microscopy.

 

Technical Skills

  • Microfluidic replication;
  • Cell isolation from body fluids;
  • Fluorescence microscopy;
  • Functional assays.

 

Other Preferred Experience

  • Experience in data analysis will be highly valued;
  • Experience with plasmonic nanoparticles.

 

Personal Skills

  • “Hands-on” approach together with a high commitment in respecting deadlines.
  • Problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to work independently and as team player.
  • Good communication skills.
