Offer Description

It is made public that for a period of 30 working days, counting from the day immediately following the publication of this Edital in the Diário da República, an international documentary competition is open, for recruitment in the form of an employment contract in public functions for an indefinite period, of a vacancy for Assistant Professor in the subject area of Educational Sciences - sub-area of Physical Education Didactics of the School of Social Sciences under the terms of articles 37º to 51º, 61º and 62º-A of the University Teaching Career Statute republished by Decreto-Lei nº 205/2009, of 31 August and amended by Lei nº 8/2010, of 13 May (referred to as ECDU for short), and other applicable legislation, namely the Regulamentos for Competitions for the Hiring of Staff for Teaching Careers at the University of Évora, approved by rectoral order dated 19/12/2018, published in the Diário da República by Order No. 2433/ 2019 (2nd series), of March 11, referred to as Regulamento for short.

The Despacho Conjunto No. 373/2000 (2nd series), of March 31st, made compulsory the inclusion of the following reference in all civil service recruitment procedure notices:

“As established in item h) of article 9º of the Portuguese Constitution, Public Administration, when acting as an employer, actively promotes a policy of equal opportunity between men and women in access to employment and in professional progression, scrupulously endeavoring to avoid any and all any form of discrimination.”

In accordance with articles 37º to 51º of the ECDU and other applicable legislation and with article 8º of the Regulamento, the following provisions will apply:

I. Authorization order – this present open position was authorized by order of the management board of the University of Évora in 29TH january of 2024.

 II. Place of work: School of Social Sciences at the University of Évora.

III. Admission requirements:

III.1. Chapter VI of the Regulamento is applied in regard to verification and compliance of the requirements of admission and exclusion candidates.

III.2. According with 41º-A of the ECDU, only those who hold a doctorate degree in the area for which the competition is open, on the application deadline, as well as having command of spoken and written Portuguese, may be admitted to this competition.

III.3. If the doctorate was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, candidates are admitted to the competition, in accordance with paragraph e) of n.º 2 of article 4º of Decree-Law no. in Portugal, it must be carried out after the end of the competition, under the terms set out in Decree-Law n.º 60/2018, of 3 August, and is only necessary at the time of hiring.

III.4. Foreign candidates, except those of an official Portuguese expression, are required to provide an officially recognized statement, demonstrating that they master Portuguese language, in both written and spoken form.

IV. Admission requirements in absolute merit:

IV.1 Article 12º of the Regulamento is applied with regard to admission in absolute merit of candidates.

IV.2 The jury will deliberate on their approval or rejection in absolute merit, by justified roll call vote where abstentions are not permitted, with the candidate who obtains a favorable vote from more than half of the voting jury members being considered approved on absolute merit.

IV.3. Approval in absolute merit depends is considered on the overall curriculum, that the jury justifiably considers to have scientific merit, demonstrate research capacity in the disciplinary area in which the competition is open, with an emphasis on Physical Education and Sports, as well as demonstrating the value of the activity pedagogical methodology already developed, compatible with the disciplinary area to which the competition relates, and its suitability for the professional category in which the competition is open.

V. Valuation parameters and ranking in relative merit, respective weighting and final valuation system:

V.1. The method of selection is curricular evaluation. The curricular evaluation, takes into account the general functions committed to the teachers by article 4º and in accordance with the provisions in nº 6 of article 50, both of the ECDU, focuses on the following aspects:

a) Research;

b) Teaching;

c) Knowledge transfer;

d) University management;

e) Scientific-pedagogical project.

V.2. The parameters to be taken into consideration in the curricular evaluation of candidates in each of the aspects listed in V.1 and the weighting to be attributed to each of them in the final classification are as follows:

a) Research, with a weight of 35% and comprising the following parameters:

i) Scientific, cultural, artistic or technological productions and its relevance in the disciplinary area in which the competition is open;

ii) Other scientific, cultural, artistic or technological activities;

b) Education, with a weight of 25% and which comprises the following parameters:

i) Teaching;

ii) Student supervision;

iii) Publications of text books with ISBN and other pedagogical texts;

iv) Pedagogical innovation;

c) Knowledge transfer, with a weight of 10% and comprising the following parameters:

i) Intellectual and industrial property;

ii) Specialized rendering of services contracts;

iii) Training activities;

iv) Non-academic experience relevant to the subject area of the competition;

d) University management, with a weight of 10%;

e) Scientific-pedagogical project, with a weighting factor of 20%, and which must consist of a well-founded presentation (with a maximum of five thousand words) of the candidate's vision for a time horizon of three years on the proposed research activity carry out in the area of Educational Sciences - sub-area of Physical Education Didactics, its framing in research units at the University of Évora, as well as its articulation with teaching activities at the University of Évora.

V.3. The jury proceeds to the ranking of the candidates approved in absolute merit, following the procedure laid down in article 22º of the Regulamento.

VI. The ranking of candidates will be the result of the weight average of quantitative scores obtained in each of the evaluation parameters, on a scale of 0 to 100 points.

VII. Preferred parameters (not applicable);

VIII. Public hearings:

VIII.1. The jury will deliberate at the first meeting on the need to hold public hearings of all candidates approved in absolute merit and are intended, in an exclusive way, to clarify what appears in the curriculum vitae submitted by the candidates, under the terms of b), nº 4 of article 50º of the ECDU, with all candidates being informed, at least five working days in advance, of the date and place where such hearings will take place.

VIII.2. Public hearings referred to in the previous paragraph may be held by videoconference, but the jury must to ensure that these are carried out on equal terms for all candidates.

VIII.3. According to paragraph a), nº 4 of article 50º of the ECDU, the jury may also to request candidates to provide additional documentation related to the submitted curriculum.

IX. Application submission:

IX.1. Applications must be sent within 30 working days from the day immediately following the publication of this Edital in Diário da República.

IX.2. The Requerimento and the remaining documentation requested in the application procedure must be presented in person, during normal office hours (9am-12:30 pm and 2 pm-5:30 pm) at the address indicated below, or sent by registered mail, up to the deadline, to Universidade de Évora, Divisão de Recursos Humanos, Serviços Administrativos, Largo da Sr.ª da Natividade, Apartado 94, 7002-554 Évora.

X.2. When submitting your application, the application must be accompanied by the following documents:

a) Certificate proving ownership and date of obtaining the degree and required for the competition in digital format (PDF);

b) Certificate/declaration of the time of service issued by the service, if linked to the public service, in digital format (PDF);

c) Two copies in paper and one in digital format (PDF) of the candidate's curriculum vitae, whit indication of the articles and other work done and published, as well as the pedagogical activities developed. In the curriculum vitae, the candidate must respect the organization referred to in point V.2. of this Edital, whit the identification of those publications that she/he consider most representative for which a brief description of her/his contribution is required;

d) Two copies, in papper format, of the works selected by the candidate as most representative in her/his curriculum vitae, up to a maximum of five works and in digital format (PDF);

e) One copy (PDF) of the scientific-pedagogical project in the disciplinary area in which the competition is open;

f) Other diplomas or certificates of studies referred to in the curriculum vitae in paper and digital format (PDF).

XI. Language:

XI.1. The documents supporting the application must be presented in Portuguese.
