Job description:

Work Area: Business Development and Research in Health Technologies
Project overview: The selected individual will engage in leading both business development initiatives and comprehensive research projects within the health technology sector. This encompasses areas such as machine learning, deep learning, data science, medical imaging, and computer-aided diagnosis. The role involves supervising undergraduate and master's students, thereby contributing to their academic and professional growth.;
This role involves also efficient project management from concept to execution, ensuring impactful outcomes and sustainable value creation in the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships, develop and negotiate funding proposals, and lead the promotion and participation in R&D projects, aiming to maximize impact and innovation in healthcare. Managing a portfolio of funded projects, valorising research findings, and active interaction with key stakeholders, including companies, hospitals, and academic institutions, will be critical components of this position;

Objectives: Successfully lead and manage research and business development projects in the health technology sector, ensuring deliverables are met within set timelines and budgets.;
- Develop, negotiate, and implement strategic partnerships that foster healthcare innovation, ensuring alignment with market needs and technological trends.;
- Secure and efficiently manage funding for projects, including crafting competitive proposals for national, European, and corporate initiatives.;
- Enhance the visibility and impact of research outcomes through prestigious journal publications and active participation in relevant industry events and clusters.;
- Facilitate knowledge and technology transfer between academia and industry, contributing to the improvement of healthcare services and societal well-being;;
- Innovate and lead in the fields of machine learning, deep learning, data science, medical imaging, and computer-aided diagnosis, ensuring high-impact outcomes;;
- Mentor and guide students, enriching the research community and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration;

Academic Qualifications: MSc in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum profile required: The candidate must have robust skill set in programming (e.g., Python) and experience with various imaging modalities, notably CT, but also including X-Ray and ultrasound
Preference factors: Experience in business development in the health domain and consortium management

The hiring shall be governed by what is stipulated in the legislation in force regarding fixed individual employment contracts and by INESC TEC norms.

Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be based on the following criteria, in descending order of consideration:
a) Relevant Curriculum in the concerned field of this tender
b) Proven experience.
DISABILITY INCENTIVE

Candidates who present a degree of disability equal to or greater than 90% will benefit from an incentive (20) in the score of the CV Assessment.
Candidates who present a degree of disability equal to or greater than 60% and less than 90% will also benefit from an incentive (10) in the score of the CV Assessment.
Said score may, in these cases, exceed 100 points.
Candidates must demonstrate the degree of disability during the application, namely through the submission of the Multi-Purpose Medical Certificate of Disability, issued in accordance with Decree-Law no. 202/96, of October 23 - currently in effect.
