It is open a call for a 1 position for a Research Fellowship (Bolsa de Investigação) in the area of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, under the project name CENTAVO: Manutenção baseada na Condição para Locomotivas with the reference NORTE-01-0247-FEDER-047097, co-financed by NORTE-FEDER, where the following conditions apply:Scientific Area: Computer Engineering, Computer Science.Admission Requirements:Candidates must hold, at the time of application, a master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related area.Fellowship duration and Activity Regime:Duration of the Fellowship: 6 months duration, eventually to be renewed according to the applicable laws, the project and respective budget, starting expectingly in 3rd October 2022 on exclusivity regime. The fellowship contract could be renewed, until the end of the project.
Work Plan:The project 47097 CENTAVO aims to develop a set of tools to monitor the condition of locomotives bogies by implementing a maintenance program based on the condition of the equipment. The objective of the CENTAVO project is contribute to improving the availability of rolling equipment, the quality of service, reduce the maintenance costs and improve the return on investment. The main goal of the CENTAVO project is to replace, as far as possible, the conditional or scheduled preventive maintenance of the bogie mechanical parts with predictive maintenance. This objective will be achieved by the development of intelligent maintenance tools: support for locating defective components, maintenance scheduling and integration of the maintenance operations tasks into daily services, ensuring adequate stock control and spare parts and assigning maintenance teams / technicians according to its competences.This application is within the scope of the SI Research and technological development. The specific conditions of access provided in Aviso para Apresentação de Candidaturas n.º 17/SI/2019, from Projetos em CoPromoção, and eligibility criteria either from beneficiaries, either from the project, described in Regulamento Geral dos Fundos Europeus Estruturais e de Investimentos (FEEI) approved by Decreto-Lei n.º 159/2014 of 27 October, and in Portaria n.º 57-A/2015, of 27 February (RECI).Activities:
- Development of the SI of the monitorization equipment to be installed on the locomotive bogie;
- Development of the accessory SW to the IF with external equipment;
- Support the conception of the data management platform;
- Conceptualize and develop the monitorization program SW;
Applicable legislation and regulations:Research Fellow Status, Investigation Fellowship regulation for the Technologies and Science Foundation.
Selection process and Jury:The pre-selection will be guided by the sent documentation. The following step is made through an interview, where will be explored the most relevant experiences of the candidate. In both stages, the candidate’s evaluation will be done in a scale from 0 to 5 values. Only the candidates who have more than 4 values in the pre-selection will be admitted to the interview.The final evaluation will be made through the factors:
- 40% pre-selection (curricular evaluation);
- 60% final interview.
The jury will be composed by the following elements:

- Samuel Queirós (Supplementary).
