Specific Requirements

The specific and mandatory requirements for applying for this Research Grant are as follows:
- Master's degree in Psychology (preferred) or other social and human sciences.
- Enrolment in the academic year 2023/2024, in a degree course at a higher education institution and developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D Units.
. Or by masters who are enrolled in non-academic degree courses as part of the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.
- Not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of two years in this type of scholarship, consecutive or interpolated, under the terms of no. 5 of article 6 of the aforementioned Regulation.
- Immediate availability.
- Good command of the English language.

The research grant (BI) is aimed at carrying out R&D activities for master's degree holders enrolled in third cycle courses leading to a PhD degree or by masters enrolled
in non-academic degree courses integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units. The BI, scheduled to start in March 2024, will last 6 months (renewable up to the maximum limit of the approved funding, or up to the maximum duration of this type of scholarship, whichever comes first), taking into account the limits defined in paragraphs 3 and 4 of article 6 of Regulation no. 950/2019, of 29 November, published in Diário da República, no. 241, 2nd Series, of 16 December (FCT, I.P. Research Scholarship Regulation).

The amount of the grant corresponds to €1,259.64, according to the table of grants awarded directly or indirectly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atu… ).The amount is paid monthly by bank transfer to the holder and is subject to any applicable updates.

Selection process

8.1. A curricular assessment will be carried out, taking into account (a) the Curriculum Vitae, which will focus exclusively on the candidate's merit, and (b) the expression of interest document, with the following parameters being assessed according to the weighting indicated:
o (a) Curriculum Vitae (90%)
o o Master's degree final classification (30%);
o o Research experience in areas relevant to the project (e.g. immigrant integration, intercultural education, development of teaching materials, namely collection and analysis of quantitative and/or qualitative data (preferred)) (50%);
o Experience in disseminating, promoting and publicising scientific research results (10%).
b) Expression of interest document, which should mention the candidate's motivation as well as their (reasoned) perspective on the design of studies that would enable them to respond to the project's objectives. This document must be written in English and have a maximum of 800 words) (10%).
8.2 Candidates will be classified and ranked according to the above criteria on a scale of 0 to 100.
8.3 At the end of the curricular assessment, if the jury so decides, the top three candidates in the curricular assessment will be invited to an interview, which will be notified by email.
8.4 The interview will discuss topics related to the work plan, motivation, previous experience, command of the English language and CV.
8.5 With the inclusion of the interview, the final classification will result from the scores obtained in the curriculum evaluation (80%) and the interview (20%).
8.6 In the event of a tie, the chair of the jury has the casting vote.
8.7 The jury reserves the right not to award a grant if none of the candidates matches the desired profile.
8.8 This competition may be cancelled until the final list of candidates has been approved, and will remain valid for a period of 12 months from the date of approval of the final list for this procedure.
