The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Expected skills

  • Hold a doctoral degree or an MA in the humanities specializing in English linguistics.
  • Demonstrate scientific achievements in the field of applied linguistics (not obligatory).
  • Have fluent knowledge of English both in speaking and in writing to run classes at the levels from B2+ to C2 (CEFR).
  • Have precise plans for academic and didactic development
  • Demonstrate professional experience in teaching, in particular in the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) and EFL teaching methods, and willingness to teach English as a foreign language at the academic level, second language acquisition studies and EFL methods courses.
  • Possessing full certification in teaching English as a foreign language.
  • Knowledge of Polish to be able to communicate with university administration.
  • The search committee will also consider the following additional criteria related to the scientific and didactic profile of the Second Language Learning and Teaching Section as well as the needs of the Institute of English Studies: Experience in organizing developmental courses for EFL teachers, especially at the primary level, the use of new technologies in teaching foreign languages, inclusive education.

    • Responsibilities

  • Conducting classes and administrative work related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process in the scope and dimension envisaged for the position of senior lecturer in accordance with the current internal normative acts of the University of Wrocław.
  • Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process indicated by the Director of the Institute of English Studies or the head of the Second Language Learning and Teaching Section in particular: acting as a tutor of student groups, acting as a secretary of the admissions committee, participating in the organization of exams, etc.
  • Publication of scientific research results with the "University of Wrocław" affiliation and their reliable documentation through the Library of the Institute of English Studies.
  • Active participation in scientific and editorial activities of the Department and its organization (department meetings, scientific conferences at home and abroad, editorial work for publications created at the Institute of English Studies).
  • Observing the provisions of copyright and related rights in teaching, scientific and creative activity.
