The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

The candidate is expected to have

  • Possession of a doctoral degree in the humanities sciences, discipline of literary studies (Czech literature).
  • Possession of a Master's degree in Slavic philology - specialisation Czech philology.
  • Academic achievements in the field of Czech literary studies with particular emphasis on literature of the second half of the 20th century.
  • Knowledge of Polish and English to enable efficient communication in academic teaching and in the university environment.
  • Knowledge of Czech to the extent necessary for teaching in this language.
  • Experience in university teaching, in particular teaching Czech as a foreign language and teaching the history of Czech literature (especially contemporary).
  • Experience in didactics of translation (Czech and Polish) and documented work as a translator of fiction (recent Czech literature).
  • Additionally, the selection committee will also take into account documented achievements in the popularisation of Czech literature and culture in Poland.
  • Responsibilities

  • In the research area: conducting individual and collaborative research in the field of literary studies.
  • In the didactic area: teaching practical Czech language and literature studies.
  • In the organisational area: performing other tasks and activities related to organisation of scientific conferences, editorial work on scientific publications, activities popularising science, and organisational work within the Department of Czech Studies.
