The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

The candidate is required to

  • Completion of English studies and a PhD in humanities in the discipline of linguistics.
  • Documented scientific achievements in the field of theoretical linguistics, especially in the field of experimental, corpus and computational linguistics.
  • Participation in international research projects and prior experience in managing research projects.
  • Experience in teaching courses on phonetics, syntax, semantics, and psycholinguistics, and in the supervision of diploma theses.
  • Sufficient knowledge of the Polish language that ensures efficient communication in academic teaching and in the university environment.
  • The search committee will also consider the following additional criteria related to the scientific profile of the Department of English and Comparative Linguistics, as well as the teaching and research needs of the Institute of English Studies: familiarity with and experience in conducting research in various fields of linguistics, including interdisciplinary research, conducting research based on linguistic corpora, prior experience in the popularization of knowledge.

    • Responsibilities

  • Conducting classes and administrative work related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process in the scope and dimension envisaged for the position of assistant professor in accordance with the current internal normative acts of the University of Wrocław.
  • Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process indicated by the Director of the Institute of English Studies or the head of the Department of English and Comparative Linguistics, in particular: acting as a tutor of student groups, acting as a secretary of the admissions committee, participating in the organization of exams, etc.
  • Conducting research in the discipline of linguistics, including applying for internal, national and international grants, in accordance with criteria established by the relevant Discipline Council.
  • Publication of scientific research results with the "University of Wrocław" affiliation and their reliable documentation through the Library of the Institute of English Studies.
  • Active participation in scientific and editorial activities of the Department and its organization (department meetings, scientific conferences at home and abroad, editorial work for publications created at the Institute of English Studies).
  • Observing the provisions of copyright and related rights in teaching, scientific and creative activity.
