The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

The candidate is required to

  • Hold a master’s degree in the humanities, specializing in literary studies – preferably having written a master’s thesis on American literature or culture.
  • Demonstrate experience in conducting research, teaching, and popularizing in the field of digital narratives and media.
  • Have precise plans for academic development in the field of digital media, particularly game studies.
  • Demonstrate professional experience in teaching American literature and practical English.
  • Demonstrate sufficient fluency in Polish for effective communication in academic teaching and the academic environment.
  • The search committee will also consider the following additional criteria related to the academic profile of the Department of American Literature and Culture, as well as the teaching needs of the Institute of English Studies: internships and scholarships abroad.
  • Responsibilities

  • Conducting classes and administrative work related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process, within the scope and dimension envisaged for the position of assistant in accordance with the current internal normative acts of the University of Wrocław.
  • Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process indicated by the Director of the Institute of English Studies or the head of the Department of American Literature and Culture.
  • Conducting research in the discipline of literary studies, including applying for internal, national and international grants, in accordance with criteria established by the relevant Discipline Council.
  • Publication of academic studies with the "University of Wrocław" affiliation and their reliable documentation through the Library of the Institute of English Studies.
  • Active participation in academic and editorial activities of the Department (department meetings, academic conferences at home and abroad, as well as editorial work on publications edited at the Institute of English Studies).
  • Observing the provisions of copyright and related rights in teaching, scientific and creative activity.
