The Principal Investigator of the research project SONATA BIS 11 2021/42/E/NZ7/00246 “New graphene-based approach targeting the prion-like propagation of α-synuclein in Parkinson’s disease” invites applications for a Specialist Supporting position. The project covers research on the impact of functionalized graphene nanoparticles on the in vitro formation and stability of α-synuclein and the formation and spread of its inclusions in vivo.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Experience in conducting scientific research in the field of physicochemistry, especially related to the stability of colloidal systems (proteins, peptides, polyelectrolytes), confirmed publication record the journals from the Journal Citation Reports lists (0-10 points).
  •           The minimum required: 3.

          2. Experience in the field of advanced physicochemical methods for characterization of nanoparticle systems (among others, DLS, FTIR, NMR, CD, SAXS) (0-10 points).

              The minimum required: 3.

          3.  Experience in experimental studies on the characteristics of the structure of functional layers (among others, SPR, QCM-D, EIS, CV) (0-10 points).

               The minimum required: 3.

          4.  Knowledge of programming basics ( Python, Matlab, Linux) will be an asset (0-5 points)

          5.  Knowledge of computational techniques (Molecular Dynamic Simulations) will be an asset (0-5 points).

              The minimum number of points of the successful Candidate: 30.


    Specific Requirements

    The Specialist supporting will be responsible for the following:

  • Conducting experimental studies on the characteristics of tested nanostructures using a wide range of physicochemical methods;
  • Determining optimal conditions for experimental studies on interactions between tested nanoparticles and α-synuclein;
  • Assessing the effectiveness of nanoparticles tested on α-synuclein fibrillization and fibril disaggregation;
  • Archiving and processing of experimental data, as well as preparation of publications in high-impact factor journals;
  • Handling bibliographic databases (eg. Mendeley)

    Eligibility criteria

    Education level:

    Ph.D. in one of the following disciplines: chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, materials engineering, or related.
