Skills/Qualifications

Key requirements Mandatory requirements:

 PhD degree in bioinformatics, biology or a similar area obtained not
earlier than 7 years prior to the employment in the project (note: this
does not include periods of maternity or parental leaves or other
circumstances described in the Polish National Science Centre
regulations)
 fluency in English
 scientific achievements documented by publications in major
international journals
Other requirements:

 experience in bioinformatics and analysis of Oxford Nanopore long-
reads data

 experience with programmatic data management tools, including
expertise in SQL and relational databases
 extensive experience in using Unix/Linux and knowledge of at least one
programming language (e.g. Python)
 experience in supervision of students or in coordination of citizen
science campaigns (e.g. filed mycological inventories)
 good teamwork and collaboration skills
 expected high scientific autonomy and strong motivation

Selection process

Required documents  an application addressed to the Rector of the University of Warsaw, including a signed statement on the processing of personal data.
 copy of a PhD diploma;
 professional CV, including a list of publications;
 motivation letter, including research plan;
 names and contact data (e-mail, phone number) of two academic
researchers who can provide references;
 a statement in which the Candidate confirms having read and accepted the regulations for conducting competitions, as set out in Ordinance No 106 of the Rector of the University of Warsaw, from 27 September 2019 , defining procedures for conducting a competition for the post of an academic teacher at the University of Warsaw (Monitor UW item 388; English translation).

Recruitment procedure The applications will be proceeded by the Competition Committee of the Faculty of Biology following the aforementioned provisions of Ordinance
No. 106 of the Rector of the University of Warsaw from 27 September 2019. The candidates will be informed about the date of the interview (on- line) and about the results of the competition by e-mail.

The Faculty of Biology reserves the right to reply to selected applications only and to close the procedure without a ruling.
The competition is the first stage of the procedure for hiring an academic teacher as specified in the Statute of the University of Warsaw, and a positive decision is a basis for further proceedings.
