The Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS is seeking a candidate for the position of:

Specialist (post-doc)

Number of available positions: 1

Place of work: Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology

Researcher career profiles (R1-R4): R2

Field of science: Biology

Type of recruitment: NCN Opus14

Scope of tasks:

Pharmaceutics leading to changes in epigenetic profile, i.e. structures formed by DNA and corresponding proteins, gained attention as a promising targeted treatment, mostly to support other cancer therapies. One of the most successful strategy for combined cancer therapy is an increased response to immunotherapy by application of targeted epigenetic treatment. Although epigenetic alterations are effective in evaluation of disease risk, progression or clinical response, a precise correspondence between epigenetic treatment and chromatin response is not established for majority of pharmaceutics applied. We hypothesize that elucidating molecular mechanisms evoked by the stimulating epigenetic profile, will provide a key data for making progress in tumor and targeted therapies research. The main goal of this project is to characterize chromatin activity changes in primary brain cancer cells resulting from epigenetic treatment.

We are seeking for a post-doc that will join this project at the advanced/final stage. The successful candidate will apply genome- and transcriptome-wide approaches (MNase-/ChIP-/RNA-sequencing – training will be provided to these methods) to study chromatin accessibility and gene regulation using mammalian systems (primary cancer cell lines), carry out validation experiments involving biochemical and molecular biological tools, and participate in the general duties of the team. S/he will take a part in data generation, analyses and interpretation collaborating with other team members. The applicant is expected to report the scientific results by writing scientific papers, attending scientific meetings, and effectively communicate with peers.
