Offer Description
The aim of the competition is to select a candidate for the position research and assistant professor at the Institute of Marine and Environmental Sciences University of Szczecin.
The competition is open to applicants who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the 20 July 2018 Act on higher education and science (The 2023 Journal of Laws, item 742) and the criteria indicated in the competition.
The competition is the first stage of the recruitment process for the post of an academic teacher, and its positive outcome is the basis for further procedure.

Skills/Qualifications
Requirements for the candidate:
1. doctoral degree in the discipline of Earth and environmental Sciences,
2. knowledge, skills, and experience related to the research of marine diatoms, documented by authorship or co-authorship of publications in JCR-listed journals (minimum 15 papers),
3. experience in fieldwork, particularly in collecting materials for diatomological research,
4. participation in scientific projects on diatomological topics, confirmed by publications,
5. knowledge in the field of marine microorganisms, particularly diatoms, imaging using LM (light microscopy), and electron microscopy (TEM, SEM),
6. a minimum of 1 year of experience in the cultivation of diatoms, especially those originating from the Baltic Sea,
7. skills in the field of molecular phylogeny and the life cycle of diatoms,
8. the candidate should be able to collaborate with existing research teams,
9. fluent knowledge of spoken and written Polish and English languages.
Candidates entering the competition should submit the following documents:
1. a statement of compliance with requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Dz. U.2023 (Journal of Laws) item 742 as amended)-(the form to be downloaded from the website),
2. an application letter,
3. candidate’s CV and questionnaire (the form to be downloaded from the website),
4. certified copies of documents confirming the academic title of doctor in the discipline Earth and environmental Sciences or equivalent title, and in the case of documents drawn up in a language other than Polish, also a certified translation of the document into Polish and a certificate confirming the equivalence of the diploma with the Polish academic degree,
5. a statement that the University of Szczecin will be the candidate’s main place of work,
6. a candidate’s consent for the processing of personal data by the University of Szczecin in the recruitment process on a form available at the university’s website,
7. Information about scientific achievements and accomplishments in the field of Earth and environmental Sciences (list of publications, lectures at conferences and seminars, scientific internships, participation in grants).
