Research assistant „PhD student” in AMO Physics / Quantum Chemistry (# of pos: 2)

Updated: over 1 year ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 31 Oct 2022

COMPETITION OPENING DATE 29.09.2022

The aim of this project is to propose and theoretically investigate new systems, new ways of producing, controlling, and manipulating, and new applications of ultracold polyatomic molecules ranging from controlled chemical reactions to precision measurements. Thus we

will extend the range of systems and quantum phenomena ready at hand to be produced and employed in the experiment.

The candidate is expected to know theoretical methods of ab initio electronic structure calculations and/or nuclear dynamics for small molecules and/or related topics in ultracold quantum many-body physics. We also expect motivation and independence in solving

scientific problems. In the project the candidate will use and develop methods of electronic structure and/or quantum scattering theory to investigate properties of novel ultracold quantum molecular systems or other related topics in ultracold quantum many-body physics, important for ongoing and future experimental works.

The planned employment will be realized within the project „Ultracold polyatomic molecules for controlled chemistry and precision physics“ financed by the European Research Council within the Starting program grant of Prof. Michał Tomza. The planned employment period is up to 48 months. The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018. (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2022, item 574)
