Offer Description
The Research Group “Environmental Change - Climate and Human (PALEO)” conducts studies focusing on the environmental changes, evoked by natural factors such climate changes as well as human presence and activity. The person employed as a research assistant will be responsible for research on Cenozoic sediments, including sedimentary and palynofacies analysis, in order to reconstruct the sedimentation environments of these sediments.

Skills/Qualifications
- Master's degree in Earth Sciences
- experience in conducting field work, in particular related to the preparation of lithological profiles
- ability to interpret lithofacies
- experience in laboratory work, including the sediment/rock preparation for organic matter analysis
- ability to perform microscopic palynofacies analysis
- ability to analyze organic matter under ultraviolet light and determine the maturity of organic matter
- knowledge in the field of sedimentary basin analysis confirmed by publications
- ability to prepare grant applications and report research results in the form of scientific articles supported by a relevant publication record
- motivation to work as part of a team and to advance scientific development
- good command of spoken and written English, at least basic ability to communicate in Polish

Evaluation procedure
Start of employment is planned on May 2024. Decisive employment criteria will be skills and scientific experience, supported by publications. Additional advantages will be participation in research projects.
The applications will be assessed by an independent evaluation commission, whose responsibility will be to rank the candidates according to their merits and potential. Based on this assessment, IGS PAS will sign the contract with the successful candidate.
