Chair of Urban Planning and Spatial Management at the Faculty of Architecture, Wrocław University of Science and Technology is looking for a candidate for the position of assistant professor in the field of architecture and urban design. The person employed as an assistant professor will be responsible for research, teaching, and organizational duties for the Department, Faculty, and University. A particularly desirable area of expertise for the candidate is urban design in theoretical, practical, and legal aspects, including a very good understanding of current global trends in urban design and planning.

 

Tasks:

Conducting scientific research and publishing research results.

Active involvement in obtaining research grants.

National and international cooperation with scientific institutions.

Knowledge exchange with the professional community – both domestically and internationally – in the fields of urban planning, spatial planning, and architecture.

Teaching and educating students of first and second-cycle studies in Architecture and Urban Planning, as well as Spatial Management, in both Polish and English, including supervising engineering and master's theses.

Continuously improving one's own qualifications.

Actively participating in organizational activities of the Department, Faculty, and University.

Disseminating scientific knowledge in non-academic environments.

Adherence to ethical principles, especially the Academic Code of Ethics of Wrocław University of Science and Technology

Candidates eligible to apply must meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and the Statute of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Completed higher education studies in Architecture and Urban Design.

PhD degree in the field of engineering and technology, in the discipline of architecture and urban design.

Professional qualifications for architectural design without limitations.

Documented scientific and research achievements – authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications.

Practical and theoretical knowledge concerning urban and architectural design issues and spatial planning, particularly in the scope of legal regulations applicable in Poland.

Documented experience in conducting academic teaching activities in the field of urban design.

Documented professional experience in architectural design.

Documented experience in popularizing knowledge in non-academic environments.

Documented social and organizational activities, including experience in organizing scientific conferences and supervising student research groups.

Documented active participation (presentation, poster) in scientific conferences or seminars.

Fluent command of Polish and English in speech and writing.

The date of receipt of documents is decisive. The closing date for receipt of application documents is 3 p.m. CET on the date indicated in the competition notice, i.e. 17.05.2024. Receipt of documents from the candidate will be acknowledged by the HR Assistant to the address indicated in the application.

The applications of the candidates will be examined by a Committee appointed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. arch. Barbara Gronostajska, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. After the closing of the competition proceedings, applications sent by mail from those not accepted will be returned. Those interested will be able to collect them from the Human Resources Assistant within 6 months after the closing of the competition.

The University reserves the right not to close the competition.
