Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 29 Jul 2022

The Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland has an opening for a research and teaching assistant position in the Department of Condensed Matter Physics. The selected candidate is expected to join a project focused on investigation of properties of superconductors with help of ab initio methods. The goal is to find and explain the superconducting properties of chosen materials as well as to develop new methods of analysis and visualizations. The project is realized in collaboration with group of experimentalists, thus the experience in analysis of experimental data will be an advantage. The goals of the current 1-year stage are to calculate the electron-phonon and superconducting properties of chosen materials, compare them to experimental data and find out what is the key factor of their superconductivity, as well as to write the program which visualizes the anisotropy of electron-phonon parameter. In addition, the assistant will conduct classes including, inter alia, computer laboratories for the subject of "ab initio methods in solid state physics", therefore it is necessary to have a working knowledge of the calculation codes used in this course (required knowledge of the following calculation codes, confirmed by publications: Quantum Espresso, Wien2k, and eDMFT).

The position is located in Krakow, Poland.

Applicants must have a master degree in Physics. Experience in the area of ab initio calculation of electronic and phonon structure is required. The position will be for 1 year with the earliest starting date of October, 1st, 2022. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
