CRACOW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY,

invites applications for the position of professor or associate professor  
in the group of research and teaching staff

in the Department Automatic Control and Computer Engineering

Job description:

 

1) the competition for this position is open to applicants, who meet the requirements specified in the Act from 20th July 2018 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws from 2021, item 478, with amendments) and the Statute of the Cracow University of Technology (attachment to the Senate resolution no. 54/o/05/2019, from 29th May 2019 - §60, §61) for the position of  professor or associate professor in the group of research and teaching staff (according to the level of qualifications),

2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2024,

3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, full-time employment, renewable contract

 

4) the first period of employment: fixed-term from 1.10.2024 to 30.09.2026

5) scientific discipline: automatic control, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies (at least 75%)

6) the salary is adequate to the post and university provisions.

 

 

1. Necessary requirements:

 

• Doctor of Science degree (habilitation) in the field of Automatic control, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies or Information and communication technology (ICT) or in related disciplines (under the condition of holding PhD degree in one of the two above disciplines) in case of candidates for the position of associate professor; additionally the title of professor is required in case of candidates for the post of professor
• Significant achievements during previous professional career, including highly rated scientific publications on the list journals and conferences announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, monographs, patents, supervision of PhD theses, and other didactic and organizational achievements
• Experience in leading or conducting research or R&D projects (participation in research teams)   
• Strong commitment to research, teaching and organizational work
• Very good command of English (B2 level minimum) and Polish (in the case of foreigners)
• Completed pedagogical course or willingness to complete the course within the first year of employment

 

 

2. Scope of tasks at the position of university professor / professor in the group of research and teaching staff:

 

• Preparing and conducting classes in Polish in the field of Computer Science and Computer Engineering (undergraduate level) with the possibility of conducting classes in English within the Erasmus + programme or other depending on competences. According to the employment regulations at the Cracow University of Technology the assigned teaching load is 180 class hours (professor) or 210 class hours (associate professor) plus consultations for students per academic year.
• Conducting scientific research mostly in the field of Automation, electronic, electrical engineering and space technologies (official faculty discipline ), documented in highly rated scientific publications on the list of journals and conferences announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, monographs, patents, taking part in scientific projects, making reviews etc.

The faculty discipline is now ranked A and prospective employees are expected to significantly contribute to the next evaluation in the period
2024-2025.

• Leading research projects and cooperation in research teams, organizing scientific research, participating in applications for grants
• Assisting PhD students and graduates: supervising, reviewing scientific papers, consultations, carrying out exams etc.
• Participation in academic seminars
• Organizational work in the department, faculty and at the university, including taking part in university councils, Scientific Council, committees etc.

 

              3. Required documents (in English):

 

• Application for employment as professor (associate professor) at the Cracow University of Technology in the group research and teaching staff, addressed to the Rector of the Cracow University of Technology
• Detailed CV containing the course of previous employment
• Copies of documents certifying holding of PhD degree, Doctor of Science  degree (habilitation) or the title of professor in one of the disciplines: Automation, electronic, electrical engineering and space technologies,  Information and communication technology (ICT) and other documents confirming obtained scientific degrees/title of professor in one of the above or related disciplines.
• List of publications, monographs, patents and other achievements that constitute the candidate's scientific output in disciplines: Automatic control, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies, Information and communication technology (ICT) and related. Publicationsin journals and conferences included on the list announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Republic of Poland, on 5th January, 2024 are preferred:  
  Komunikat Ministra Nauki z dnia 05 stycznia 2024 r. w sprawie wykazu czasopism naukowych i recenzowanych materiałów z konferencji międzynarodowych - Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego - Portal Gov.pl (www.gov.pl) )
• Copy of a document confirming knowledge of English language (and Polish – in the case of foreigners)
• Certificate of completion of a pedagogical course or commitment to complete the course within the first year of employment
• Letter of recommendation for the post of professor or associate professor in the group of research and teaching staff

• Candidate’s declaration that the Cracow University of Technology will be his/her primary place of employment
• Statement of full legal capacity and no criminal record (according to the Article 113 of the Polish Higher Education Act).

 

Employment takes place after the competition procedure consisting of:

 

• evaluation of submitted documentation,
• recruitment interviews.

Cracow University of Technology reserves the right to contact only the candidates, whose applications meet the necessary requirements and are ranked highest by the competition committee. Information about the results of the competition will be published on the BIP PK and at the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

 

The submitted documents can be picked up from the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (room 203) on 17-21.06.2024, 9.00 am – 3.00 pm. All documents unclaimed during this time period will be destroyed by the commission.
