invites applications for the position of professor or associate professor  
in the group of research and teaching staff

in the Department Automatic Control and Computer Engineering

Job description:

1) the competition for this position is open to applicants, who meet the requirements specified in the Act from 20th July 2018 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws from 2021, item 478, as amended) and the Statute of the Cracow University of Technology (attachment to the Senate resolution no. 54/o/05/2019, from 3rd May 2019, § 60) for the position of  professor or associate professor in the group of research and teaching staff,

2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2023,

3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, full-time employment contract, tenure track

4) the first period of employment: fixed-term from 1.10.2023 to 30.09.2025

5) represented scientific discipline: automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies (at least 75% share)

1. Necessary requirements:

• In the case of application for the position of associate professor, holding the  Doctor of Science degree (habilitation) in the discipline of automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies or information and communication technology(ICT) or in related disciplines (under the condition of holding PhD degree in one of the above disciplines) is required. Additionally, holding the title of professor in the discipline automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies or information and communication technology (or related disciplines) is expected in the case of application for the position of professor.
• Significant achievements during previous professional career, e.g. highly rated scientific publications on the list of journals and conferences announced by the Ministry of Education and Science, monographs, patents, supervision of PhD theses and other didactic and organizational achievements etc.
• Leading or participating in research or R&D projects; experience in obtaining grants for research projects is welcome
• Strong commitment to research, teaching and organizational work
• Documented good command of English (B2 level minimum) and Polish (in case of foreigners)
• Completed pedagogical course or willingness to complete the course within the first year of employment

2. Scope of tasks at the position of university professor in the group of research and teaching staff:

• Preparing and conducting classes in Polish at all levels in the field of Electrical Engineering and Automatic Control (proposed lectures include:

Automatic control, Dynamic systems modelling, Calculation methods etc.) and/or in the field of Computer Science Computer Engineering at undergraduate level (proposed lectures include: Operating Systems, Architectures of Computer Systems, Software Engineering, Parallel and Distributed Processing, Artificial Intelligence etc.). According to the employment regulations at the Cracow University of Technology assigned teaching load is 180 class hours (professor) or 210 class hours (associate professor) per academic year.

• Conducting scientific research mainly the discipline automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies ( faculty discipline) documented in highly rated scientific publications on the list of journals and conferences announced by the Ministry of Education and Science, monographs, patents, taking part in scientific projects, making reviews etc.

Faculty discipline automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies was granted A category in the recent evaluation process, and
the candidate is expected to strongly contribute to the next evaluations

• Leading research projects and cooperation in research teams, organizing scientific research, participating in applications for grants;
• Assisting PhD students and graduates: providing lectures within the Doctoral School of Cracow University of Technology, supervising theses, reviewing scientific papers, consultation for students, carrying out exams etc.
• Participating in academic seminars
• Organizational work in the department, faculty and at the university, including taking part in university councils, committees etc.

              3. Required documents:

• Application for employment as professor (associate professor) at the Cracow University of Technology in the group research and teaching staff, addressed to the Rector of the Cracow University of Technology
• Detailed CV containing the course of previous employment
• Copies of documents certifying holding of PhD degree, Doctor of Science  degree (habilitation) or the title of professor in the discipline automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies or information and communication technology(ICT) and other documents confirming obtained scientific degrees/title of professor in one of those disciplines
• List of publications, monographs, patents and other achievements constituting the candidate's scientific output in the discipline automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies or information and communication technology (ICT) or related disciplines (journals and conferences included on the following list published by the Ministry of Education and Science are preferred:

• Copy of a document confirming knowledge of English and Polish (in case of foreigners)
• Certificate of completion of a pedagogical course or commitment to complete the course within the first year of employment
• Letter of recommendation for the position of professor or associate professor in the group of research and teaching staff

• Candidate’s declaration that the Cracow University of Technology will be his/her primary place of employment
• Statement of full legal capacity and no criminal record (according to the Article 113 of the Polish Higher Education Act).

Employment takes place after the competition procedure consisting of:

• evaluation of submitted documentation,
• recruitment interviews.

Cracow University of Technology reserves the right to contact only the candidates, whose applications meet the necessary requirements and are rated highest by the evaluation  committee. The submitted documents can be collected at the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (address above) on 3-10.07.2023. All documents that are not collected during this time period will be destroyed by the commission.
