Offer Description
About IMol:
The International Institute of Molecular Mechanisms and Machines (IMol) Polish Academy of Sciences, was constituted in December 2020, in partnership with University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany and University of Warsaw, Poland. IMol has been established to conduct scientific research and provide training in the fields of biological, chemical, medical, biotechnological, bioinformatics, biophysical, pharmacological, and similar sciences, in the international environment conducive to collaborative efforts, research and development interactions with biotechnological industry, and wide dissemination of our results. We aim at the development of solutions that will help everyone on this planet live a safer life.
About the job:
Currently IMol is seeking for highly motivated candidates for a position of: 1 Postdoc in Dr Maciej Cieśla group
Our group is interested in understanding how RNA metabolism is integrated during early steps of stem cell activation. We use different types of cellular and tissue systems as a test tube to understand the dynamics of functional coordination of macromolecular machinery of the spliceosome. Collectively, we want to understand regulation of splicing when stem cells decide their fate between self-renewal and differentiation. Key responsibility of the successful candidate will be to delineate dependencies in spliceosome composition-to-function upon exit from stemness of hematopoietic stem cells, and to study impact of differential splicing on selection of differentiation trajectories during blood differentiation. These goals will be achieved by applying state-of-the-art techniques available in the lab, including CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, high-throughput profiling of transcriptomes and translatomes, molecular biology assays, bioinformatic analysis, and primary cell cultures in vitro and in vivo. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with a computational biology background and/or strong track in in vivo approaches. Prior expertise in stem cell biology, including hematopoiesis, will be considered a strong asset.
