Offer Description

Full-time employment planned for 24 months.

Planned gross gross basic salary: 280,000 PLN for 24 months + funding for research trips.

Employment is possible from 1st October 2024.

 

Scope of work

1. Conducting research on her/his topic that will be related to history of postcolonial (1940s-60s) Burma/Myanmar or history of the relations between Burma/Myanmar and Thailand or Burma/Myanmar and China in 1940s-60s.

2. Preparing and publishing academic articles.

3. Presenting research findings on international conferences.

4. Assisting PI in certain research related activities such as preparing bibliographies, finding sources and literature.

Skills/Qualifications

1. PhD degree (preferably in the field of 19th and/or 20th century Southeast Asian history, Burmese/Myanmar history, or global history with focus on Southeast Asia/Burma). PhD degree must be obtained in an academic institution other than the University of Warsaw no later than 7 years before starting the fellowship.
2. Full fluency in English.
3. Publication record commensurate to the career level.
4. Knowledge of Burmese (Myanmar) language will be an advantage.
5. Knowledge of Thai language will be an advantage,

Selection process

Selection procedure
• Application deadline: 30 November 2023.
• The results will be announced by 29 February 2024 and candidates will be informed by e-mail.
• After a formal assessment of the applications, the committee may make a preliminary
evaluation of the applications and on this basis select a shortlist of candidates admitted to
further stages of the procedure.

The recruitment process is determined by the Statute of the University of Warsaw and the
relevant rules of the University of Warsaw and Faculty of History.

3. Ph.D. degree obtained no later than 7 years before starting the fellowship or a statement from your supervisor that you expect to receive your Ph.D. degree by October 1st, 2024.
4. CV with a list of publications.
5. A cover letter.
6. Description of the research project related to the grant (2 pages).
7. Two recommendation letters.
8. An administrative questionnaire.
9. GDPR consent statement (”Information on personal data processing”, attached below).
10. Please include in your application the following statement: “I am familiar with the conditions of conducting a call for the position of an academic teacher at the University of Warsaw (Decree No. 106 of the Rector of the UW of 27 September 2019, paragraph 1, point 4).”
