Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 28 Aug 2022

About WUT:

Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) is not only the oldest but also the best technical university in Poland. The Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering (FMSE) of the WUT is a leading research and teaching center in materials science and engineering in Poland, awarded with an A+, the highest category.

The project will be carried out in BioMaterials Group – one of the FMSE subgroups – which brings together 20 early-stage and experienced researchers focused on biomaterial science and the development of novel technologies for tissue engineering, implants, and drugs delivery systems.

About the position:

BioMaterials Group is offering a PostDoc fellowship in the area of biofabrication of in vitro 3D bone metastasis model.

The Postdoc’s role will be the development of: (i) biomaterials and bio-inks with angiogenic and osteogenic properties; (ii) bioprinting process for a 3D arrangement of viable cells and biomaterials, which function as replacements of native extracellular matrices.

Final goal is to establish an ex vivo bone metastasis model that is based on a vascularized and functionally perfused engineered bone organoid that allows to investigate the pathophysiology of cancer metastasis.

Postdoctoral position is available within project “Development of Functional Three-Dimensional Bone Metastasis Model with Tissue Engineering Approach”, BonMetFun, in collaboration with University of Zurich, funded by Polish National Science Center.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Biomaterials Science, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines, obtained not earlier than 7 years before the engagement in the project is required.
  • Proven record of high-quality publications in biomaterials, biofabrication, tissue engineering, or related area is necessary.
  • Experience in extrusion-based 3D bioprinting, hydrogels, microfluidics, in vitro 3D cell culture is a prerequisite.
  • Experimental skills in organoids and microfluidic microsystems for cell biological applications is a plus.
  • Strong interest in contributing to multidisciplinary and international teams is critical for this position
  • Proficiency in English is a requirement.
