Postdoctoral Position in Cosmology

Updated: about 1 year ago
Deadline: 15 Mar 2023

The Computational Cosmology Group at the Center for Theoretical Physics PAS, Warsaw, is offering a postdoctoral position within the project PACIS: Precision and Accuracy for Cosmological Imaging Surveys led by Prof. Maciej Bilicki.

The successful applicant will contribute to cosmological studies with deep wide-field imaging surveys by designing and analyzing novel galaxy catalogs. We seek candidates with a PhD degree (awarded no earlier than in 2016*) in astronomy, physics, or computational sciences, who have experience in handling astronomical data using machine learning or other computational techniques. Practical knowledge of deep learning, methods to select galaxies or estimate their redshifts from imaging data, will be additional assets.

The Computational Cosmology Group at CTP PAS collaborates with partners from KiDS, LSST DESC, 4MOST & LOFAR. The prospective postdoctoral researcher will be welcome to work with these international consortia.

The position is offered initially for two years, with a possible extension for the third year, subject to satisfactory performance.
