Postdoc in ISM of GRB/SN hosts (astronomy)

Astronomical Observatory Institute at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to be funded by the Polish National Science Centre. The appointment is available for a period of 4 years, subject to a mid-term evaluation after 2 years. The current grant end date is 29 April 2025, so employment beyond this date is subject to the likely extension of the grant duration. Funding for computing resources and travelling is included. The starting date is expected to be in the summer or fall 2021 and is negotiable. The salary is 10 000 PLN per month (around 6 000 PLN per month after tax). The candidate will be working in the group of dr. hab. Michał Michałowski on various topics on cosmic gas, gamma-ray bursts, and/or supernovae. The group will consist of one postdoctoral researcher, two PhD students and several undergraduate students.

  • research/programming experiences and skills (research experience in galaxy evolution, interstellar medium, transient astrophysics, and/or massive/exploding stars is an advantage);
  • research achievements (e.g. publications, awards, etc.).
