COMPETITION OPENING DATE: April 22nd, 2022

Recruitment is carried out in order to employ a scientific assistant (postdoc) to carry out scientific tasks in the project of the National Science Center CEUS-UNISONO " Solution pipes as a novel paleoclimate proxy", UMO-2020/02 / Y / ST3 / 00121, granted by The National Science Centre. The project leader is prof. Piotr Szymczak. The appointment will be at the level of assistant professor in the Department of Modelling of Complex Systems at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, for the period of 24 months. The project is devoted to the study of spontaneous formation of dissolution structures (so-called solution pipes) during chemical erosion of porous media, and the relation of the shapes of these structures to the climatic conditions prevailing at their formation. An important element of the project will be experimental studies of the dissolution process of porous media on a laboratory scale, which will be the main task of the post-doc employed in the project. Dissolved samples will then be examined by X-ray imaging methods to assess pore geometry changes due to dissolution.

The candidate is expected to conduct his research activities in close cooperation with other team members, in particular students and doctoral students.
