Post-Doc

Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 21 Jan 2022

The post-doc position is associated with the OPUS project " Magnetic phenomena in flatlands: Investigations of atomically thin magnetic layers" funded by the National Science Center, Poland (http://lasso.fuw.edu.pl/projects.html ). It is planned to investigate the optoelectronic properties of chromium trihalides (CrCl3 , CrBr3 , CrI3 ) in the project, aiming to combine the methods of magnetism and optical spectroscopy in order to gain control over fundamental interactions and excitations in solids. The main aspect of the research will be to find the correlation between the magnetization that occurs and the optical response of these materials. Two types of magnetic interactions are predicted in layered magnetic materials, i.e. ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism, which are related to the mutual arrangement of spins (magnetic moments). The employed person will conduct research on high-quality structures of layered materials. The samples will be fabricated at the National University of Singapore in the group of Dr. Maciej Koperski. However, the study of their magnetic, vibrational and optical properties will be conducted by the employed person using a wide range of spectroscopic techniques, such as Raman scattering, photoluminescence, and reflection contrast under various conditions, e.g. as a function of temperature, in an external magnetic field. The successful candidate will also plan and perform optical measurements, cooperate with and supervise the work of a PhD student and Master students involved in the project, as well as participate in the analysis of experimental results and their dissemination, including preparation of research articles and conference presentations.

The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018. (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2021, item 478)
