Post-doc (Research Adiunkt) in lasers based on optical bound in the continuum state

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 15 Aug 2022

We are recruiting for a research assistant (post-doc) participating in the NCN OPUS project "Tunable polariton laser based on optical states located in the continuum spectrum". Employment for a period of 18 months with the possibility of extension for another 18 months, full-time, at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw. Conditions of employment are defined by NCN guidelines.

The project is devoted to the investigation of light-matter coupling in photonic structures containing a subwavelength grating and a semiconductor emitter such as a transition metal dichalcogenide layer or perovskite. One of the aims of the project is the demonstration of spectrally tunable room temperature lasing from structures designed by numerical simulations and fabricated by lithographic methods, among others.

The candidate will pursue the main objectives of the project by performing numerical simulations of the optical properties of subwavelength gratings (e.g. within the plane wave admittance method), participating in the preparation of laser structures containing subwavelength gratings and spectroscopic measurements on these structures, conducting analysis of the obtained data and preparing publications. The project will be carried out in the LUMS laboratory at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw under the supervision of Dr. Jan Suffczyński.

The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018. (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2022, item 574)
