The Faculty of History, Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland) is seeking to appoint an assistant professor specializing in the field of history of modern art

The competitive selection process is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 165 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:
• holding at least a doctoral degree;
• having relevant scientific achievements; 
• taking active part in scientific life;
• having experience in teaching work.


Specific Requirements

• hold a PhD in art history or related discipline dealing with an art historical subject;
• have research interest in early modern art history, with particular focus on the relationship between Polish and Western European art, art of the sixteenth and seventeenth century, the problem of residences, royal and baronial seats, and propaganda of power;
• demonstrate active participation in scholarly conferences and seminars, at home and abroad;
• have teaching and mentoring experience at university level proved by the results of students’ satisfaction surveys (or a reference from a university professor);
• have a record of research in early modern art documented by a list of publications, in particular, have published at least two scholarly papers in journals belonging to the discipline of the sciences of art, included in the journal ranking list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education during the last three years;
• have published a book-length study;
• have documented experience in conducting surveys and documentation;
• have been awarded, led or participated in a grant programme, at home or international, financed by one of the following institutions: Ministry of Science and Higher Education, National Science Centre, National Centre for Research and Development, Foundation for Polish Science, or have been awarded a similar research grant by other Polish or international body, or have applied for such a grant with positive result but were not awarded funding because of the lack of funds;
• have a documented record of collaboration with local government organisations dealing with art and cultural heritage
