Offer Description

The applicant for the post of Associate Professor should demonstrate the ability to carry out research and development work in the field of methods of measurement, assessment and reduction of occupational risks associated with noise, infrasonic noise, ultrasonic noise and mechanical vibration and the ability to lead large teams carrying out multidisciplinary research projects. The following skills are expected: to carry out environmental research (i.e. measurements and assessment of physical parameters) of vibroacoustic factors in the working environment, surveys on the assessment of noise annoyance, infrasonic noise, ultrasonic noise and mechanical vibration and surveys on the assessment of working conditions; to develop Polish Standards in the field of vibroacoustics; to organise scientific seminars and national and international scientific conferences; knowledge of Polish Standards and European Standards and legal regulations (national and EU) concerning testing and evaluation methods and limit values of vibroacoustic factors in the working environment; knowledge of requirements of PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 concerning the competences of testing and calibration laboratories and PN-EN ISO/IEC 17043 concerning requirements for the organisation of proficiency tests; knowledge of legal regulations concerning the activities of research institutes and scientific development of employees (including proceedings for the award of doctoral and postdoctoral degrees) is required. Skills/Qualifications

A candidate for the position of Associate Professor should:

  • Have a postdoctoral degree in the research field of mechanical engineering, specialisation: vibroacoustics
  • Have basic knowledge of the research field of vibroacoustic hazards confirmed by the Chief Scientific Officer of the Central Institute for Labour Protection-National Research Institute.
  • Be an author of scientific papers with a minimum total value of 700 points, taking into account the candidate’s individual contribution, including not less than 200 points after the award of the postdoctoral degree.
  • List of publication categories:

     

    • scientific papers published in scientific journals, included in and ranked according to the list announced by the minister responsible for science, applicable at the time of publication, as well as peer-reviewed scientific articles in journals outside this list,[1]
    • scientific monographs and/or chapters in scientific monographs and/or scientific editing of monographs issued by publishing houses included in and ranked according to the list of publishing houses issuing peer-reviewed scientific monographs, announced by the minister responsible for science, applicable at the time of publication,[2]
    • conference materials in the form of a chapter in a post-conference monograph issued by a publishing house included in and ranked according to the list of publishing houses issuing peer-reviewed scientific monographs, announced by the minister responsible for science, applicable at the time of publication,2
    • conference materials in the form of a post-conference paper published in a journal included in and ranked according to the list announced by the minister responsible for science, applicable at the time of publication,[3]
    • conference materials published before 2019 and indexed in the Web of Science CC or Scopus databases.

    Rules for points determination:

    • for multi-author scientific papers, scientific monographs and chapters in scientific monographs as well as scientific editing of monographs and conference materials, the total point value referred to in point 4 should take into account the individual input depending on the substantive contribution of the candidate,
    • scientific papers published before 2019 shall be graded according to the list announced by the minister responsible for science, applicable on the date of publication, with the number of points obtained multiplied by 4,
    • scientific papers published after 2019 in peer-reviewed journals outside the list have a value of 5 points,
    • chapters in monographs, scientific monographs, scientific editing of monographs published before 2017 are graded according to the regulation by the minister responsible for science applicable on the date of publication, and the number of points obtained is multiplied by 4,
    • conference materials published before 2019 and indexed in the Web of Science CC or Scopus databases have a value of 60 points.

    4. After obtaining the postdoctoral degree, participation in:

    • preparation of at least 2 national and/or international project proposals accepted for evaluation (including at least 1 proposal as project manager) and carrying out at least 2 national and/or international project proposals (including at least 1 proposal as project manager)

     or

    • obtaining 2 patents and/or utility models.

    5. Providing scientific supervision (including students of first or second degree or postgraduate studies) - conducting:

    • at least 2 doctoral thesis as a supervisor, assistant supervisor, or co-supervisor[4]

    or

    • at least 4 thesis as a supervisor, defended as part of postgraduate studies

    or

    • at least 1 doctoral thesis as a supervisor, assistant supervisor, or co-supervisor, and at least 2 thesis as supervisor, defended as part of postgraduate studies.

     


     

     


    Specific Requirements
  • The following will be considered additional assets:
    • advanced knowledge of test methods, assessment and reduction of risks due to noise hazard, infrasonic noise, ultrasonic noise and mechanical vibration in the working environment 
    • scientific achievements in the fields of noise, infrasonic noise, ultrasonic noise and mechanical vibration in the working environment,
    • experience in managing the accredited testing and calibration laboratories, 
    • experience in obtaining and managing national and international research projects,
    • experience in leading multi-person teams of scientists,
    • experience in scientific editorial of monographs,
    • experience in coordinating tasks and projects in the framework of multi-annual programmes,
    • experience in organising international scientific conferences,
    • experience in cooperation with scientific committees of national and international scientific conferences,  
    • experience in conducting evaluations of the scientific and technical achievements of scientific and research staff,
    • experience in organising and conducting procedures for the awarding of doctoral and postdoctoral degrees,
    • cooperation with national and foreign scientific institutions,
    • cooperation with scientific committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
    • cooperation with technical committees of the Polish Committee for Standardisation,
    • cooperation with scientific councils of research institutes,
    • cooperation with European networks on occupational safety, European groups of notified bodies and international organisations on noise reduction,
    • cooperation as a departmental editor in international scientific journals with an IF impact factor,
    • being a certified auditor of testing laboratories,
    • fluency in spoken and written Polish.
