The Rector of the Warsaw University of Live Sciences- SGGW in Warsaw annouces

a multi-stage competition for the position of Associate Professor in a group of research and teaching staff  in the field: social sciences or humanities in discipline: sociology at the Institute of Sociological Sciences and Education in the Deparment of Sociology and Education.

The candidate applying for the above-mentioned position must meet the requirements specified in Art. 113 of the Act of July 20, 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and in § 89 section 1 point 2) University Statute - Annex to Resolution No. 63 - 2022/2023 of the Senate of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences of May 29, 2023 on introducing changes to the Statute of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and announcing the uniform text of the Statute of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in In Warsaw.

Skills/Qualifications

The candidate is expected to have:


- at least a doctoral degree in social sciences or humanities in the discipline of sociological sciences and having outstanding and internationally recognized scientific achievements in the field of sociological sciences;

- experience in conducting scientific work in the field of sociological sciences, documented by appropriate achievements in the form of authorship or co-authorship of at least 20 scientific monographs or chapters in monographs or scientific articles (including at least 12 in scientific journals), which were published in publishing houses or magazines included in the in the list valid for the year of their publication, referred to in § 87 section 1 and 4 of the University Statute, and after obtaining the degree of habilitated doctor, at least 5 scientific monographs or chapters in monographs or scientific articles (including at least 3 in scientific journals), which were published in publishing houses or magazines included in the list valid for the year of their publication;

- obtaining from scientific activity (over the last 2 calendar years) an average annual number of points awarded for scientific articles, scientific monographs or chapters in scientific monographs that is at least 50% higher than the minimum average annual number of points necessary to obtain a positive assessment from research activities for an academic teacher employed as an adjunct professor, specified in the rules for assessing academic teachers, current as of the date of submission of the application (the minimum average annual number of points necessary to obtain a positive assessment for research activities in the case of an academic teacher employed as an adjunct professor is 120 points);

- experience in managing a project involving scientific research or development work or implementing investments related to education and scientific activity, maintenance of scientific and research equipment, research stand (SPUB) or special IT equipment (SPUBi), financed in a competitive manner by a domestic or foreign institution or international organization or completing a total of at least eight weeks of documented research internship in a foreign research center;

- having documented teaching achievements or authoring textbooks or managing didactic or educational projects as part of external competitions of institutions financing research;

- having documented achievements in the field of educating scientific staff in the form of serving as a supervisor or auxiliary supervisor in at least one doctoral thesis or proceedings for the award of a doctoral degree or providing scientific supervision as a supervisor or auxiliary supervisor of a doctoral student at a doctoral school or preparing at least one review of a dissertation doctoral dissertation or habilitation proceedings;

- have at least a good knowledge of English or another congress language, to the extent that allows you to independently write scientific publications in this language and present reports at scientific conferences;

- use Polish to the extent that allows conducting classes with students in this language.


Specific Requirements

The application for employment must be accompanied by the following documents:

1) employment application addressed to the Rector of SGGW;

2) personal questionnaire (the form is issued by the secretariat of the Institute of Sociological Sciences and Pedagogy of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences or via e-mail);

3) scientific biography (self-report);

4) a statement confirming compliance with the requirements of Art. 113 of the Act of July 20, 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science (the form is issued by the secretariat of the Institute of Sociological Sciences and Pedagogy of SGGW or via e-mail);

5) a copy of the diploma certified as a true copy of the original at the SGGW Organizational Office/copy of the diploma/certificate confirming the award of the academic degree of doctor and/or habilitated doctor in the field of social sciences or humanities in the discipline of sociological sciences;

6) list of scientific achievements, including a list of scientific publications with the number of points;

7) confirmation of project management or scientific internship;

8) list of teaching and organizational achievements;

9) a statement or copy of a certificate confirming at least good knowledge of English or another congress language;

10) declaration of the candidate regarding the declaration authorizing him to be classified as an employee conducting scientific activity (so-called number N) in the event of his employment at WULS-SGGW.
