Eligibility criteria:

Essential requirements:

1. doctoral degree in forestry, earth sciences, economic sciences or related disciplines;

Desired requirements:

1. doctoral degree obtained outside the Agricultural University of Cracow not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project or completion of at least 10-month post doc internship in a unit other than the project provider and in a country other than the country in which the doctoral degree was obtained;

2. the project leader was not the promoter or assistant promoter of the candidate's dissertation;

3. during the period of drawing this remuneration, the candidate will not draw any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs from research projects funded by NCN competitions;

Specific Requirements

Additional requirements:

experience in conducting research using machine learning techniques, supported by a body of research evidence through publications in international journals and conference proceedings;

experience in conducting research on image processing using deep neural networks;

knowledge of methods of statistical data analysis;

ability to work with large data sets;

Selection process

Conduct of the competition procedure; The first stage of the competition procedure is formal verification of the documents submitted. Offers which pass formal verification are subject to substantive evaluation, during which an interview may be conducted (directly or via electronic communication channels), after prior arrangement of the date with the applicant. A negative assessment by the selection board may be appealed against within 7 days of receiving the information.

Analysis of the relationship between forest features and their satellite, aerial and other remote sensing imagery;

Development of models describing forest condition based on environmental data and stand parameters using various statistical/machine learning methods;

involvement in dissemination activities;
