RECTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SILESIA IN KATOWICE
announces the open call for the position of Assistant Professor (post-doc) in the group of research staff as a part of the NCN OPUS research project „Weathers for the Future: Climate Change and Displacement led by Ewa Macura-Nnamdi, PhD.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD degree in the discipline of literary studies or cultural and religious studies,
- research experience in the field of postcolonial literatures and/or cultures in English and/or French and postcolonial environmental humanities,
- excellent command of English and/or French,
- recent high scoring scientific achievements in the discipline of literary studies or cultural and religious studies.
Specific Requirements
Additionally we want to inform that the candidate must fulfil the following conditions:
- the candidate has been granted their PhD no more than 7 years before the year in which they are employed in the project,
- the candidate has been awarded their PhD by other entity than the University of Silesia in Katowice, or they had a minimum 10 month of the uninterrupted and documented post-doctoral internship in other institution than the University of Silesia and in other country then the country where they were awarded their PhD,
- the project manager of the abovementioned project was neither the supervisor nor an auxiliary supervisor of the candidate’s PhD thesis,
- during the period when the candidate receives the remuneration for their full-time work in the project, they shall not receive any other remuneration as a part of direct costs in research projects financed by the NCN programmes,
- during the period when the candidate receives the remuneration for their full-time work in the project, they will not receive remuneration arising from the employment contract concluded with other employer, that has its residence in Poland or in other country.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- full time employment under the fixed period employment contract for 36 months, as a part of the NCN OPUS research project „Prognosis for future: migration and climate changes led by Ewa Macura-Nnamdi, PhD,

- copies of documents confirming qualifications (including the PhD diploma or certificate granting the PhD degree, and MA diploma or equivalent degree diploma),
- list of publications,
- candidate’s statement in which they declare that during the time they get the remuneration for the work in the project they will not receive any other remuneration from the means assigned as a part of direct costs of scientific projects financed from the National Science Centre programmes, or other remuneration from any other employer on the basis of employment contract, including the employer whose seat is beyond the territory of Poland,
- other documentation mentioned in the open call requirements.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The Selection Committee decides about the resolution of the open call or leaving the open call with no result. The final, binding decision on employment of the selected candidate belongs to the Rector.
The condition necessary for employment of the candidate selected in the selection proceedings is the fulfilment of the obligations arising from Section 265(4), (5), (13) of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e., Journal of Laws 2023 item 742).
In the case of applying for employment at the University of Silesia in Katowice as the primary place of work, candidates employed in other higher education institutions as their primary place of work, should, as of the day of their employment, fulfil the requirement defined in art. 120, section 2 of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e., Journal of Laws 2023 item 742) according to which an academic may have only one primary place of work at a time.
In the case of person selected as a result of the open call selection procedure, who has obtained their academic degree, their degree in arts or their professional title abroad, and whose academic degree, degree in arts or their professional title has not been recognized as equivalent with the adequate Polish degree or title, employment of such person is possible in accordance with art. 116 section 2a of the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e., Journal of Laws 2023 item 742) in accordance with the procedure in force at the University.
