Metallocarbaporphyrinoids as ligands in monomeric and oligomeric complexes. Synthesis, interactions, and catalysis.

The core aim of the project, is synthesis and characterization of new metallocarbaporphyrinoids comprising more than one transition metal centers located inside the macrocyclic crevice and coordinated on the perimeter of the porphyrinoid. We will design and synthesize new systems in which the external non-macrocyclic metal center is controlled by the macrocyclic complex properties such as metal oxidation state, coordination number, donor-acceptor and steric factors provided by the apical ligand, etc. The "external" metal ions will be selected considering known catalytic activity of their complexes. These systems will be tailored to control their fundamental characteristics, such as stability, electronic bandgaps, spin equilibria, electrochemical activity, chirality, as well as their non-covalent and covalent self assembly. Catalytic activity of some the new non-planar and chiral free-base porphyrinoids will be tested as well.

The candidate is required to have

  • Doctoral degree in synthetic organic chemistry or in related fields obtained not earlier than in 2014.
  • Scientific achievements in the field of synthetic organic chemistry documented in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience in designing and carrying out multi-step chemical syntheses, also in anaerobic conditions and on the milligram scale.
