assistant professor

Job Type: PartTime
Deadline: 06 Oct 2021

Current research program of the Laboratory of Immunology.

The research topics of the Laboratory of Immunology include cancer immunology, mechanisms regulating the activation of cells of the immune system, cancer immunotherapy with the use of monoclonal antibodies, NK cells and the effector cells modified with chimeric antigen receptors. We conduct basic as well as translational research to use our findings in the development of new therapies.

The area of the research in which the candidate would participate.

Therapy with chimeric antigen receptors (CAR)-modified T cells recognizing the CD19 antigen is extremely effective in the treatment of lymphomas and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Nevertheless, due to the increasing number of reports on the emergence of resistance to CD19-targeing CAR-T therapies, intensive research is conducted to identify new therapeutic targets. One of the mechanisms of resistance to CAR-T therapy is the reduction in the levels of CD19 protein in the membrane of cancer cells. In this project, we will focus on characterizing the changes that occur in B-cell neoplasms due to the depletion of the CD19 protein. The results of this project will not only provide new insight into the biological role of the CD19 protein, but will also identify new therapeutic options for patients refractory to CAR-T therapies recognizing CD19 antigen.
