Offer Description

The Department of Neurophysiology and Chronobiology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow is seeking a qualified candidate for a Research-Didactic Position. The position holder will be responsible for conducting scientific research using advanced electrophysiological and molecular methods in the field of neuroscience, will design, conduct and analyse neurophysiological experiments to explore neuronal mechanisms at the cellular and molecular level. In addition, the successful candidate will carry out teaching work, including lectures, seminars and student supervision.

Research in the Department is aimed to understand neuronal mechanism of hippocampal pattern separation and memory related processes; neuropeptidergic systems interactions within the hippocampus and within other brain structures;

impact of stress on social interactions and u understanding how stress influences social interactions at the neural level.

Skills/Qualifications

The competition is open to individuals who meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Hold at least a doctoral degree in biological sciences or related fields;

• Have relevant scientific achievements including significant publications in the field of neurobiology;

• Actively participate in scientific life;

• Have experience in teaching;

• Demonstrate the ability to conduct research on rodent brain tissue, practical knowledge of the whole cell patch clamp recording (ex vivo), multi-electrode arrays (ex vivo) recording and fluorescent in situ hybridization techniques. Additionally, demonstrate skills in immunohistochemical staining of nervous tissue and microscopic image analysis;

• Demonstrate proficiency in the analysis of electrophysiological signals;


Specific Requirements

• The ability to work individually and in a team, plan and conduct experiments, and prepare results for future publication;

• A very good command of English and Polish, necessary for teaching;

• Present a positive opinion from an independent scientific employee about the qualifications and predispositions of the candidate for scientific and teaching work.
