on the basis of the Art. 43 of the Act of 30 April 2010 on research institutes (Dz. U. / Journal of Laws of 2022, item 498) and the Statute of the Building Research Institute announces a competition

for the position of the Assistant Professor

in the Fire Research Department

in the group of research workers

Place of work: Warsaw and Pionki (Poland)

For the assistant professor position may join candidates who meet the conditions set out in the Act of 30 April 2010 on research institutes (Dz. U. / Journal of Laws of 2022, item 498) specified in Art. 43 sec. 5.

Candidates should also meet other following requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in civil engineering and transport.
  • At least 5 years’ experience gained in scientific or R&D institutions or organizations.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in conducting researches concerning fire resistance tests of penetration seals, joint seals, curtain and partition walling, windows and doors, moreover preparation of all required documents (e.g. tests reports, classifications and technical opinions).
  • Experience in public speaking during trainings and conferences.
  • Excellent communication in English language (oral and written) that enables work in international teams.
  • In the case of foreign candidates, the knowledge of Polish language is required (oral and written).
  • Driver’s license.
  • Responsibilities:

  • Creative scientific activity, concerning fire safety, based on solving scientific issues that ensure the proper technical quality of buildings also serves the protection of interests of its users.
  • Development of technical opinions and expertise based on the current technical knowledge and normative documents (Eurocodes, Polish Standards, EAD), in the field of fire resistance that meet the requirements of technical conditions.
  • Conducting fire resistance tests of penetration seals, joint seals, curtain and partition walling, windows and doors.
  • Preparation of tests reports, classifications and assessments concerning fire resistance.
  • Development of new research methods and their improvements also creation of scientific foundations and criteria for the evaluation of products.
  • Dissemination of scientific research and development works results by publishing scientific and technical works and conducting trainings for technical and scientific workers.
  • Improvement of qualifications by participation in trainings, conferences and scientific seminars.
  • Participation in national and international scientific projects and grants.
  • Cooperation with all departments in the Building Research Institute also with national and international institutions and universities concerning scientific and development researches.
  • Participation in organizational works of the Institute related to conducted scientific research or development works in the field of fire safety and electrical engineering.
  • ITB offers:

  • A copy of the diploma of graduation higher technical studies.
  • A copy of the diploma of doctoral degree.

  • The list of scientific articles concerning fire safety for the last 2 years.
  • The list of scientific topics and research tasks with an indication of the functions performed in these works.
  • A signed declaration that in the event of winning the competition and starting work, the Building Research Institute will be the primary place of work during the period of employment in this position.
  • All required documents must be in Polish language.
