RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY  announces the competition for the position of assistant professor in a group of research and teaching employees in the Materials Research Laboratory at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.

Job description:
1) the competition for the position of assistant is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339 as amended), as an assistant professor,
2) estimated work commencement date: March 2024 
3) workplace and type of contract: Materials Research Laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, full-time contract of employment,
4) expected period of employment: from March 2024 to February 2026  (with the possibility of extension).

Requirements:
1) at least a doctoral degree in the discipline of materials engineering,
2) substantive participation in a research project financed by other than a subvention,
3) publications in international scientific journals, as well as documented achievements in the field of promotion and popularization of science,
4) at least two-month foreign internship or six-month domestic internship in scientific-research, industrial or local government units,
5) fluency in Polish.

Additional requirements:
1) at least 2 publications (author or co-author) in a scientific journal included in the list of scientific journals and peer-reviewed materials from international conferences constituting an attachment to the announcement of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education or obtaining a patent (regarding the last 24 months),
2) heading at least 1 research project or job order, alternatively declaration of application submission  for the research project financed  in NCN, NCBiR (within 12 months from the date of employment),
3) experience in teaching classes in the field of: engineering materials, methods of the materials properties investigation, manufacturing and shaping technologies of the materials,
4) significant organizational achievements, including participation in scientific conferences or symposia,
5) scientific cooperation with foreign centers documented through joint scientific publications or foreign internships will be and additional advantage,
6) experience in carrying out scientific and research work in cooperation with industry,
7) proficiency in spoken and written English, 
8) active knowledge of research techniques in the field of light, confocal and scanning electron microscopy and laser processing of materials. 

Required documents:
1) employment application with a short justification,
3) copies of diplomas,
4) documents confirming completed scientific internships,
5) a declaration of active knowledge of a modern foreign language,
5) declaration of knowledge of the Polish language (applies to candidates for whom Polish is not their native language),
6) professional curriculum vitae,
7) information on didactic, scientific and organizational achievements,
8) an individual development plan along with the schedule of its implementation during the employment period,
9) opinion on the candidate of at least one academic teacher with the academic degree of habilitated doctor,
10) opinion from a previous workplace,
11) the candidate's statement that the Silesian University of Technology will be the basic place of work.
