announces a competition for the position of an Assistant Professor in the group of research staff in the Analytical Laboratory, at the Institute of Chemical Sciences, the Faculty of Chemistry UMCS

The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.

I. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:

- having at least a doctoral degree in the field of chemical sciences or exact and natural sciences (chemistry);

- having outstanding scientific achievements and experience in acquiring and managing or implementing research projects;

- showing an active participation in scientific life, manifested by speeches at conferences and symposia;

- having scientific achievements including significant items, including publications in scientific journals with a wide international reach (with an impact factor not lower than 3.0);

- having documented cooperation with scientific units in the country;

- conducting scientific research with the use of modern research methods;

- knowledge and the ability to interpret the results obtained using the following research methods:

XPS photoelectron spectroscopy,

  • AFM atomic force microscopy,
  • FTIR spectroscopy,
  • scanning electron microscopy,
  • transmission electron microscopy,
  • XRD diffraction,
  • X-ray fluorescence XRF spectrometry,
  • examination of the specific surface,
  • chemisorption

- knowledge of FTIR spectroscopy in theory and practice;

- minimum 2 years of experience in working in an accredited laboratory;

- experience in working with external clients;

- knowledge of the PN-EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018-2 standard General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories;

- substantive competence and experience in preparing reports and interpreting research results;

- very good command of spoken and written English.

II. APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:

- an application requesting employment addressed to the Rector of UMCS;

- a copy or a certified copy of the doctor's diploma, or the resolution on the award of the doctoral degree, or another document confirming the achievement of the doctoral degree;

- a personal questionnaire and CV;

- a list of scientific publications;

- a list of scientific and organizational achievements;

- references, opinion confirming candidate’s sufficient teaching and research aptitude;

- a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478);

- a candidate's declaration that UMCS will be their primary workplace;

- a candidate's declaration that they agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).

III. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- full-time employment under an employment contract for from June 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024 in the primary workplace under a research grant.

The deadline for submitting documents is May 20, 2022, the date of receipt of documents is decisive.

The competition will be settled no later than May 31, 2022.

The university does not provide housing.

The settlement of the competition does not result in establishing an employment relationship. The decision on employment is made by the Rector. The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.

The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until a possible objection is raised or consent is withdrawn, and after that time for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, as well as for the purposes and for the period and in to the extent required by law to secure any claims.
