The University of Wroclaw announces a competition for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Administrative Law of the Institute of Administrative Law at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics

Remuneration:

The competition is open to candidates who meet the conditions set forth in the Act of July 20, 2018. - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of the University of Wroclaw (see Resolution No. 102/2019 of the Senate of the University of Wroclaw dated May 29, 2019 on the adoption of the Statute of the University of Wroclaw).

 

Conditions of the competition

Candidates are required to:

1. The candidate should have a doctoral degree in legal sciences, a doctorate in administrative law is preferred.

2. They should specialize in the field of administrative law (in particular in its structural and substantive part; a good understanding of the problems of administrative and administrative court proceedings will be an additional asset) and have scientific achievements in this field.

3. They should have experience in teaching:

- studies in the field of administration/law; postgraduate studies with strict administrative/legal focus;

- in the form, in particular, of lectures, exercises, seminars in the field of administrative law, primarily in the field of the general, structural and substantive issues in this branch of law (including specialized subjects, e.g. structural fragments of administrative law, isolated matters of substantive law),

- also confirmed by  the co-authorship of textbooks in the area of administrative law.

4. Well-defined research and scientific development plans in the discipline: legal sciences – with the focus on the perspective characteristic of administrative law, compatible with the evaluation criteria.

5. Fluency in the Polish language is essential.

6. A statement the University of Wroclaw will be the candidate’s primary place of work.

7. A statement that the candidate will conduct research only in the discipline of legal sciences (that the candidate’s involvement with the discipline of legal sciences will constitute 100% of their research).

In evaluating applications, the following will also be taken into account:

1. Extensive experience in the field of administrative practice (especially in the capacity of an administrator), confirmed by publications (e.g. glosses, opinions, etc.) will be an additional asset.

2. Authorship (co-authorship) of draft normative acts in the field of administrative law will also be valued.

 

Responsibilities

In the research area

1. Preparation and editing of academic texts in the field of legal sciences.

2. Active and passive participation in scientific conferences.

3. Participation in research and scientific projects.

In the teaching area

1. Teaching (in Polish) lectures, exercises, seminars and conversation classes  for the programs offered at the University of Wroclaw (especially at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics).

2. Preparation of teaching materials.

3. Preparation of courses curricula.

In the organizational area

1. Organizational activity at the Faculty and the Institute, undertaking organizational work for the benefit of the University, the Faculty and the Institute (including, but not limited to, involvement in the organization of conferences and other scientific undertakings; organizing subject Olympiads; supporting the organization and functioning of the Department of Administrative Law).

2. Publication of scientific research results with the affiliation "University of Wroclaw" and their thorough documentation through the WPAiE Library.

3. Compliance with the provisions of copyright and related rights in teaching, academic and creative activities.

The application for the competition should include

  • Personal questionnaire of the person applying for employment (download Personal questionnaire ).
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • A photocopy of the diploma certifying that the candidate has obtained a doctoral degree (PhD) degree.
  • A statement that should the candidate win the competition, the University of Wrocław will be his/her primary employment and should the candidate be employed (download Workplace Statement ).
  • Declaration of conducting scientific research only in the discipline of legal sciences (to represent only the discipline of legal sciences in 100%) (download Declaration of scientific discipline ).
  • A self-evaluation report describing the applicant's scientific and teaching experience and other achievements in the field of organisation and popularisation of science. The report should also include information on academic mobility.
  • The list of scientific publications from a period no longer than 10 years, previous teaching experience and other achievements in the field of organisation and popularisation of science.
  • Electronic versions of two key publications (or unpublished papers) which the candidate considers to be representative of his/her scientific output.
  • An application for employment addressed to the Rector.
  • A statement in connection with Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018. The Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration – Article 113 ).
