Offer Description
The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and the following qualification criteria:
Requirements for the candidate:
1. PhD in biology or a closely related discipline
2. Experience in research on phylogeny and evolution of arthropods, confirmed by scientific track record
3. Publications in international peer-reviewed journals (JCR list, leading role as the first author will be particularly highly rated)
4. Very good written and oral communication skills in English
5. Enthusiastic approach to work in a collaborative team.
Desired qualifications:
1. Awards resulting from scientific work, scholarships, participation in workshops and scientific projects
2. Experience in entomology.
Tasks in the project:
The candidate will take part in a research project financed by the National Science Centre "Reconstructing evolutionary histories of rapidly diversified groups: Toward a robust dated species tree of Oestroidea using alternative phylogenomic methods (Diptera: Cyclorrhapha)". The project is managed by prof. Krzysztof Szpila (Department of Ecology and Biogeography, Nicolaus Copernicus University). Position is without teaching obligations.
Research tasks:
- development of UCE method for Oestroidea flies,
- bioinformatic and phylogenetic analyses of NGS data,
- description of new taxa and developmental stages,
- preparation of publications.

Benefits
Financial conditions:
- salary in the gross amount of 11.000 PLN (net amount about 7.000PLN)/month,
- full employment contract in the Nicolaus Copernicus University for 9 months.

Addtional information:
Candidates will be selected in an open competition procedure according to the NSC (National Science Center) regulations. Recruitment will be based on the assessment of the submitted documents and an interview with selected candidates. Candidates will be informed about the results of the 1st stage of the recruitment and about the date of the interviews. The recruitment will be adjudicated on 02/02/2024.
