DESCRIPTION :

The Department of Oncobiology and Epigenetics is hiring an assistant professor to carry out research goals of scientific and commercially funded projects conducted in the Biobank Lab. The work will involve processing and biobanking samples of biological material of various origins (including infectious, human, environmental samples, etc.), next-generation sequencing, and conducting genetic analyses. The employee will be responsible for writing and publishing articles in highly ranked international journals from the JCR list and will be involved in promotional activities for the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, as well as in popularizing science.

REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate should meet the following criteria and have:

  • A doctoral degree in biological sciences or related fields recognized in Poland,
  • 500 points from publications, with ≥ 100 points from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MEiN) or patents, including at least one publication with ≥ 100 MEiN points as the first or corresponding author,
  • Practical knowledge of molecular biology and genetics,
  • Experience in preparing libraries from DNA/RNA samples for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and conducting it on Illumina, Inc. platforms, as well as analyzing the obtained results,
  • Practical knowledge of biobanking issues,
  • Creation and supervision of collections of biological material,
  • Experience in working with infectious biological material, e.g., blood,

 

ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES:

  • Desirable knowledge of ISO 9001 standard and Quality Standards for Polish Biobanks,
  • Desirable experience in implementing projects and grants from external sources (e.g., National Science Center, National Centre for Research and Development, etc.),

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fulfilling duties in accordance with the University's and Faculty's strategy,
  • Conducting and participating in scientific research and development work,
  • Acquiring funds for scientific research through applications in national or international competitions,
  • Disseminating the results of scientific or development research by publishing them in the most prestigious scientific journals from the Journal Citation Reports list,
  • Implementation of international mobility for research purposes,
  • Showing initiative in organizing and improving one's own work and the team/unit,
  • Other organizational duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

The candidate is expected to have the ability to work as part of a team, high personal culture, communication skills, accuracy, conscientiousness, punctuality, good work organization, multi-tasking, resourcefulness, ability to work under time pressure, initiative, self-motivation to work independently, high motivation to learn, problem-solving skills, proficiency in spoken and written English, and ability to organize the purchase of research reagents.
