The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2018, item 1668, as amended) and the Statute of the University of Wrocław.

The candidate is required to:

2. Working knowledge of systematic reviews and meta-analyzes.

3. Initiative and effectiveness in obtaining grants.

4. Fluency in the English language.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research as part of the Scientific Excellence Incubator - Meta Research Center project.
  • Conducting scientific activities at the highest level.
  • Mastering the project methodology used at the Center-Meta Research and ongoing implementation of a minimum of one project at a time specified in the Center-Meta Research's operational plan for the year of activity.
  • Establishing scientific contacts for the development of the Center-Meta Research.
  • Involvement in the work of the Center-Meta Research team and implementation of all stages of data synthesis projects: writing protocols, creating systematic data search processes, data preparation and extraction, statistical analysis, analysis of methodological quality and risk of bias, writing and publishing scientific articles.
  • Regularly consulting scientific activities and results with the supervisor (head of the Center-Meta Research) and team members.
  • Presenting results in the framework of scientific conferences.
  • Assisting in the organizational activities of the center and promoting the results by popularizing science through social media activities and a podcast.
  • Co-organizing scientific conferences.
  • Active participation in the team's grant applications.

    full-time Post-doctoral position in Meta-Research at University of Wroclaw

    The newly created Meta-Research Centre at University of Wroclaw, led by Dr Bartosz Helfer https://tinyurl.com/4d2284e9 is currently looking for full-time PhD Student researcher.

    The Meta-Research Centre conducts impactful science (see our recent publications in top medical journals) in evidence synthesis and evaluation across several disciplines (medical and health sciences, infant nutrition, mental health) and its current special focus is on clinical trials of infant formula.

    An ideal candidate has a working knowledge of systematic reviews and meta-analyses and is ready to learn newest methods in the field (e.g. risk of bias, conflict of interest assessment, challenges specific for clinical trials in neglected fields) as well as to help develop new ones (e.g. detection of scientific misconduct).

    We expect high level of engagement and contribution to ongoing projects within the Centre (each post-doc will be responsible for at least one ongoing project, some of the current projects focus on assessment of clinical trials of infant formula, SARS-CoV2 transmission or its influence on mental health, Cochrane reviews on treatment of schizophrenia, replicability crisis in psychology). Post- docs will also be encouraged to develop their own research agenda and are expected to apply for additional funding.

    Daily key research tasks for these posts correspond to different states of evidence synthesis and include: searching scientific literature, study selection, data extraction, evaluation of data and study quality, data analysis and writing research manuscripts for publication. This is a research position without teaching duties.

    We welcome applications from candidates with PhD (including recently obtained) from any related discipline, especially, but not limited to: statistics, epidemiology, public health, evidence-based practice (including any allied health professions), research methods, evidence synthesis, psychology, medicine, mental health, nutrition, health/ research ethics, etc.
