RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position of assistant in the group of teaching and research employees in the Department of Data Science and Engineering at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.
Job description:
1) the competition for the position of assistant is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339 as amended),
2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2024,
3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Data Science and Engineering at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, full-time employment contract,
4) period of employment: from 01.10.2024 to 30.09.2028 (with the possibility of extension)
Requirements:
1) Master of Engineering degree in Technical Sciences in Information and Communication Technology, preferred in Data Science (including Big Data) specialization,
2) scientific experience in conducting research in the discipline of Information and Communication Technology, confirmed by co-authorship/authorship of at least 2 publications (related to those discipline of science) (preferred in scientific journals with a non-zero IF and a MEiN score of at least 100 points),
3) knowledge of the Polish language at a level that allows one to effortlessly conduct teaching classes,
4) knowledge of English at least at B2 level,
5) participation in thematic conferences and symposia.
Additional requirements:
1) experience in teaching in the field of computer science and/or statistics in Polish and English,
2) experience in scientific cooperation with Polish scientific and research institutions as evidenced by joint publications or research projects carried out,
3) very good knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python programming environments,
4) experience in scientific work related to the analysis of DICOM, NIFTI and/or NRRD medical imaging data, participation in at least two grant projects on this topic will be an additional advantage,
5) knowledge of deep learning and machine learning techniques as applied to medical imaging,
6) knowledge of machine learning tools, in particular dimensionality reduction techniques for clustering or data visualisation.

5) declaration of active knowledge of the English language,

8) opinion of an independent researcher – scientific supervisor or master's thesis supervisor – regarding the candidate's predisposition to work as a research and teaching employee.
