Offer Description

The position of a research assistant for the implementation of scientific and research works and projects in the field of material engineering of non-ferrous metals, in particular copper, aluminum and their alloys. The candidate should have knowledge of non-ferrous metallurgy, continuous metal casting processes and plastic processing of metals. The position of a research assistant will require independent implementation of research in the field of acquired projects, acquiring new projects, as well as publishing research results in renowned scientific journals.

Skills/Qualifications

1) awarded the degree of doctor of engineering and technical sciences in the discipline of materials engineering,

2) knowledge of metallurgy processes and synthesis of non-ferrous metals (especially copper, aluminum and their alloys) as well as continuous casting and plastic forming processes, as well as the necessary research infrastructure for assessing the properties of metals,

3) documented experience as a manager (leader) of at least one scientific and research project in the field of synthesis and casting of copper alloys with their subsequent metal forming processes,

4) documented achievements in the field of materials engineering of an implementation nature as a co-author of applications: at least 2 national patents (in the territory of the Republic of Poland) and at least 1 international patent (outside the territory of the Republic of Poland) and at least 3 utility models with national scope (in the territory of the Republic of Poland),

5) documented scientific achievements in the form of publications in the field of materials engineering of non-ferrous metals, in particular metallurgical synthesis and continuous casting processes of non-ferrous metals (especially copper, aluminum and their alloys) in renowned international scientific journals with the score of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education not less than 70 points (measured as on the date of publication) – minimum 5,

6) at least 3 years of documented scientific and research experience in R&D works in the field of synthesis of copper alloys, including projects for young scientists in the discipline of materials engineering, obtained through competitions from external sources, i.e. NCBR,

7) knowledge of 3D scanning systems, certified ability to operate the ATOS scanner with dedicated software,

8) knowledge of the FEM computing environment (i.e. ANSYS and Deform) and the ability to conduct simulations in the field of strength of materials and structures and metal forming processes,

9) knowledge of the CAD environment and the use SOLIDWORKS program (required at least CSWA certificate)

10) completed and documented at least 1 scientific internship (not shorter than 14 days) in external scientific unit,

11) documented knowledge of English language - at least B-2 level,

12) exemplary ethical attitude,

13) predispositions for teamwork,

14) independence, creativity and good organizational skills,

15) predispositions for teaching work confirmed by completing a course in the field of didactic development.


Specific Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates with practical experience in conducting research in the field of materials engineering, in particular in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy, continuous casting processes of copper, aluminum and their alloys, and plastic processing of non-ferrous metals.
