Candidate for the position of an assistant (replacement employment contract) at the Department of Brain Biochemistry, Maj Institute of Pharmacology, Polish Academy of Sciences.

 

KEYWORDS: neurodegenerative diseases, molecular and cellular biology, gene expression, gene editing systems, confocal microscopy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Development of research activities consistent with the scientific profile of the Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences;

Planning and conducting research experiments, realization of current scientific projects;

Preparation and archiving of research results;

Implementation of new research methods;

Preparing scientific projects and obtaining funds for research;

Strict adherence to the code of ethics of Polish Academy of Sciences employee;

Compliance with the regulations and directives operating in the IP PAS.

Skills/Qualifications

Candidate for the position of an assistant at the Department of Brain Biochemistry, Maj Institute of Pharmacology, Polish Academy of Sciences, employed under a full-time employment contract (replacement employment contract), should meet the following criteria:

Doctoral degree in biological or related sciences;

At least 5 years of experience in working with transgenic animals, with advanced techniques of fluorescence and confocal microscopy and with primary in vitro cultures;

Very good practical knowledge of biochemical and molecular techniques (incl. isolation of proteins and nucleic acids, molecular cloning, WesternBlot, ELISA, qRT-PCR, nucleic acid quality testing, immunohistochemistry / immunofluorescence), as well as knowledge of modern gene editing tools (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9, viral vectors).

Proficient knowledge of graphic programs (e.g. Image J, Photoshop).

Scientific achievements documented by publications in relevant international scientific journals, with particular focus on the publications in the field of neurodegenerative diseases;

Completed internships in foreign research units;

Ability to manage research projects and independently analyze and interpret results, preparing manuscripts, public presentation and discussion of results;

The Candidate should be motivated to expand knowledge and scientific curiosity;

The Candidate should demonstrate willingness to conduct his / her own scientific research and projects;

The Candidate should have the ability to organize his / her own and team work as well as responsibility for assigned tasks;

Fluent knowledge of English is obligatory;

The Candidate should demonstrate an impeccable ethical attitude.
