Offer Description

The Department of Pure Mathematics at the Faculty of Pure and Applied Mathematics of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology is seeking a person for the position of the assistant (in Polish: asystent) of mathematics The person hired for this position will be entrusted with research, teaching and organizational work for the benefit of the Department of Pure Mathematics, the Faculty of Mathematics and the Wrocław University of Technology.

Skills/Qualifications

The candidate should have:

1. Ph. D. degree in mathematics or the Ph.D. thesis submitted to the appropriate Committee at a research institution.
2. scientific research achievements in mathematics, including publications,
3. experience in teaching mathematics,

4. competence to teach courses in data science (mathematical statistics, machine learning, neural networks, etc.)
5. excellent knowledge of the Polish language, both spoken and written.

Specific Requirements

The candidate should send:

1. curriculum vitae, 
2. a copy of the Ph.D. diploma (or a copy of the Master's diploma if the Ph,D. degree is in the process of being confirmed)
3. a description of scientific research achievements and teaching and organizational activities, including: a list of publications with the current score of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the total number of citations of research papers with the source of these data, a list of ongoing scientific research projects, an information on cooperation with institutions, organizations and scientific societies, a list of scientific and professional awards and honors (the above documents should be signed by the candidate),

4. copies of up to five selected works published by the candidate.

Selection process

1. A successful candidate will be selected by the hiring commitee by July 9 (the commitee is not bound to select a candidate; in this case the competition remains unresolved).

2. If a candidate is selected, Chairman of the Mathematics Department will present the candidate to the Council of the Scientific Discipline of Mathematics which then votes on recommending the candidate for hiring to the Rector.

3. On the basis of this voting the Rector of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology makes the final decision to hire the candidate.

Additional comments

Candidates who have not submitted a Ph.D thesis for approval will not be considered.
